I'm still trying to understand the class structure....I've been through the rule book a few times.  What classes can/should someone run if they are an expert on a 600?  Looks as though there are 600 classes for CCS and ASRA...what's the difference and what should I put my son in?  Just looking for suggestions as I don't want to overlook anything.

ASRA is the National Series

if you plan on just running CCS - middleweight classes

You can run all the MW Stuff and HW stuff and can also run the GTU which is the 25 min 600 class.  You can also run the GTO which is up to 1000cc machines.  For ASRA if you want to run them you can run Superbike, Sportbike and Superstock, assuming your bike is SS legal.  For the ASRA races you will have to qualify for grid position on Saturday afternoon for the Sunday races.  Check the schedule, you will see.

So if we're not worried about the national points, can we just run the CCS classes?  This will probably be the only CCS event that we make this year...we're only looking for track time and want to be easy on our tire budget, so I just wanted to make sure that it was OK to just only run a few regional classes....

How does contingency work?  Will I be able to sign him up for a few of the contingencies that we run with WERA during this CCS race weekend?

Thanks for your help guys.

Yeah, you can just run the CCS stuff.  I am doing the CCS stuff and just one Thunderbike ASRA race.  I only do the ASRA race at Summit and VIR.  Contingency works the same, just fill out the tech form and check your contingencies and hand it in to tech when you roll your bike up there.  Also, you have to fill out the sponsor form listing your sponsors, that gets handed into registration in the morning.  Also, unlike WERA you have to bring boots, gloves, leathers and helmet to tech in the morning.

And to run the ASRA races you have to purchase an ASRA license which is  an extra $50 and the post entry fee for ASRA classes is $120 each.
