So I hear that use of canopies are not advisable.
What about camping? I have a dome tent, I'm sure it will withstand 20~25mph wind but thats probably the limit. Is the wind well over 20mph like it was at CMP this past sunday afternoon?

When we were there last June I used a Eureka 9' x 9' dome tent and snapped two sections of the fiberglass poles. Not willing to assume that it will be more of the same this year - but just be warned there is the possibility of problems.

It's not ALWAYS windy there. Checked the current forecast and for the next 24 hrs the winds are expected to be in the 10-12mph range.

Also learned that aluminum poles on more expensive tents hold up better!!!

I have raced at Heartland Park Topeka since '89, and I will say that the plains weather likes canopies for lunch and dinner.

Be carefully and be secure. I've watched my canopy pull my counterweight, a manual car wheel bead breaker, up and over a fence and up a hill...and crumpling my nice canopy in the process.

Krishna, treat yourself and share a garage with someone for the weekend sprints, and only use your canopy [or share] during the TC.

We did that last year when I raced with Team LMB, and it really worked out well. It was windy as hell, but didn't seem as bad down on pit lane for the TC. We did have the canopy secured with about twice what we ordinarily would have.

Gary, whats your phone number? I'd like to see Ivan out there, but he doesn't have a way of getting his bike to the track. I think he wanted to fly in. I have his cell number and will give him a call. What do you think?

Thanks for the offer for staying in the trailer. I'm flying a friend in to help with the pit and drive. We will try to stay in my tent. Now sure if the 3 of us will fit in your trailer.

dude, if you're that hard up for a place to sleep i've got a 20+ foot trailer with a bed built in the nose and bunk space under that and more room for a air matres in the back. along with a king size a/m i wont be using. it's gonna be damn cold in a tent.
all i ask is no farting or snoring in the trailer. it's all yours if you want it.
