I think there are three choices in alphabetical order.  Dunlop, Michelin, Pirelli.  I use Michelin's on my stuff.  Bridgestones are an outside shot, but I do know some guys that tried them and found that they used more of them compared to others.

Pirelli's if you ask me!    My advice try Pirelli's or michelins. Dunlop dont make a 160 last i knew

Don't know what class you are running, I've been quite happy with the Bridgestone slicks on my 2nd gen SV, 2 race weekends and 2 track days on last set. Shouldn't be much difference between 1st and 2nd gen SVs.

I use Pirelli's. The best advice is try them all and see. Dunjlop does make a 160.
Pirelli has a great contingency program and excellent trackside support from Trackside Races Supply in the  midAtlantic and Southeast

dunlop makes the new 209's and the old 208's in the 160 size.  I was going ot try the 209's but at $379 a set :kicknuts:
I'll stick with my michelins :thumb:

I have a brand new set of Pirelli's for the SV...  anyone interested?  Of course, I don't have an SV anymore.  I don't even have a motorcycle anymore.

The Pirelli's were the cheapest of the three tires we're discussing here, and they worked awesome.    I don't think the SV is the kind of machine that can maximize the various differences in tire quality.

Rider skill, bike set-up, etc...  all have a lot more to do with the perceived success of a tire choice, than the tires themselves.

I ran Wegman weekend and the last round at Gingerman on the same set of tires. Michilen Pilot PR1 and a regular PP rear tire. 2 weekends straight on the same tires and they held up pretty good and I finished pretty good to.

Well let's see, who has been fast on any gen SV......Oh yeah - Ed Key

I beat him on a 4 year old set of Dunlops
