May be a repost, but not sure...

Now I say it's rare because finding articles I can REALLY agree with on the internet is a very rare occurrence

Well, do they all relate?  Seems this article is floating all over.

I had the opportunity to do two schools myself with #2 in 1990.  I was introduced to #6 at the end of 1990 and got to work with him from 1991 through 1993.  We even met in 2002 or so and exchanged some ideas.

Anyway, in 1991, when I did what number two said, number six said, "What the hell are you doing?"  "Well, I'm trying to get under the paint and," "Stop that..." and I was given a new way to do it.  Won my first championships that year.

Everything applies, it's just knowing when to apply it.

When applied at the correct time, yes!

Maybe this is where you apply the rule about thinking LOL.
I talk to everyone, listen to what everyone has to say with an open mind.  I DO WHAT MAKES SENSE TO ME AND FITS OR IS ADAPTABLE MY STYLE.  Things that seem wild or crazy usually are (or you did not understand what they meant).  The article did jump around but there are pearls of wisdom in there.

I think a lot of things are over simplified.  Yeah, there's a nugget in there that's usable.  But amidst different body styles, sometimes things are still different.

What I was doing worked, but what Dale told me worked better.  Years later, Dale had more figured out, and I even developed some new ideology from that.  Sometimes it's a matter of recognizing what you really need to do to not upset the bike.

LOL!  Everything previous was still part of thinking.  Was good enough to put me on the second row of an AMA grid in 1990 then.  I was faster later though.  I just want it all to be easy now.     Easy is good.  Often fast too.  Usually we work very hard to get it slowed down too much only to try and get it back up to speed.

Hey Guy!  Did Ed give you those pictures?  For some reason, I couldn't save them onto a cd, but I got that working again.  Do you want a cd with those pictures?
Never interrupt your opponent while he's making a mistake.

Dale's "Give to get" has evolved into the unofficial motto of the Penguin School, "In order to go fast, you have to learn to go slow."
Also, anybody who studied Dale's lines noticed that his squaring off point in a corner was noticably earlier than the norm. Sometimes a rival would use this to dive under Dale going into a corner, but Dale would be pointed into the next straight with his throttle open while the upstart was just turning. He would say, "The sooner you can see through the door and down the hallway, the sooner you can start your drive." (Similar to #19. Barry Veneman) I worked control at several schools where Dale lectured, and he was a master of communicating points to the students. Hell, I used to try the stuff out myself when doing track sweeps in my car!
