oddly enough there are some folks that nearly make that their life. they have foums dedicated to just such things. seems a bit odd to me. but whatever keeps them happy...

The frame was snapped, the #3 rod was dangling from a hole in the cases, and what was left had been consumed by fire.  I said, "Hey, we've got all night!"

I think that would make him a calculator geek. I am partial to rpn calculators.

Math geeks don't use calculators much, calculators are useful mostly for arithmatic and trig.

Calculators can't even do simple math like Laplace transforms or solve Bessel's equation.
