If I buy a XT timer do I need to get the becon with it or would it work with the CCS timing system?
or would it work off of someone who has one at the track? And how would I know if anybody has one there?

Someone usually has a beacon out, so you don't need to buy one.

No aftermarket timers work with CCS scoring systems (unless the GP system that track addix uses is compatable).

But as K3 mentioned, someone will have a beacon out...
