The carbon protectors are backed by soft armor to absorb the energy in a fall. The Galaxy are very comfortable and offer all the feel without sacrificing protection. The Krypton are full kangaroo leather construction and utilize some NASA style abrasion resistant material on the knuckles and the palm. There is a carbon protector on the wrist which is backed by a soft armor, the same soft armor is used to protect the knuckles and is covered by the NASA style material. I really like these gloves alot. Some shy away from the soft knuckle protection, I have been down in the Kryptons hard and the glove showed massive impact and abrasion on the knuckles of both hands with no pain or injury. The feel these gloves offer is hard to match.
