LRRS racer #248 Chris "Jersey" Orcutt was injured Sunday, October 8th while racing at New Hampshire International Speedway. He was on life support until late last week -- while healing from his injuries he contracted pneumonia and couldn't keep any food down for weeks. He was moved out of ICU recently, and had wrist surgery on the 23rd.

His friend Alex Dunstan, a Red Bull distributor, contacted colleague Geoff Hannen at Red Bull's headquarters and got a pair of gloves donated. (See description below) They will be raffled in an event to be known as the "Jersey Drunkathon" on Nov. 11th @ the Players Pub, 369 Route 108 in Somersworth, NH. Winner need not be present at drawing.

Each raffle ticket is $20. They will be sold at the time of the drawing, or by Paypal'ing $20 to 1bmfr6@gmail.com. That address belongs to Mark Connolly, who has raced against Chris since they attended the Penguin Racing School together.

Online Paypal payment will close down on November 8th. Buyers will receive an email with their ticket number. (Alex writes: "I'm basically going to assign everyone a random number, put them all in a box, and have Jersey pick one out to declare the winner.")

All proceeds will be presented to Chris to help cover the incidental costs of his hospitalization. Please let any of your other roadracing friends know as the more the merrier for this once-in-a-lifetime product. Direct any questions to alexander13@gmail.com

Well-wishes can be sent to Jersey care of his sister's email: sascha9@yahoo.com

The Raffle will be for a pair of extremely limited edition Alpinestar GP Tech gloves. These gloves normally retail for $215.00, however, these aren't a normal pair. This run was produced for the 2006 Red Bull US Grand Prix at Laguna Seca and were handed out to a very small number of V.I.P. guests at the event. The gloves were made in the USGP colors and have the event logo branded onto the gauntlet. This pair has been personally autographed by US MotoGP star Nicky Hayden!

SIDENOTE.....
Chris is a great friend of mine and I am delighted to help him anyway I can. He is alwayas a riot to hang around with and his personality is truly unique. If you are too far to attend, buy a raffle ticket. If you can come, please do. For all the non-racers out there, this is the reality of the risks we take on the track. But an even bigger reality is how close and tight our racing community is. Please do what you can to spread the word and let's see if we can put a dent in some of Chris' medical bills.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact me.

For more information on Chris and the benefit, as well as what everyone is doing to help, pleae visit the Northeast Street Riders forum where a special section has been created just for him.
