Hey everybody.  I will be at the Phoenix event in a week and half.  This is my first event at this track and was wondering a couple of things. When do they usually open the gates?  Do they close them at a certain time (Talladega you are screwed if you want to come and go after 1000)?  Can you camp at the track?  Do they have showers and whatnot?  Has anybody heard if Metzler/Pirelli will be there for the Friday LP day?  Thanks for any info.

Gates open at 0700, and you can come and go anytime during the day.  You have to wait exit between sessions, as you have to cross the track to get into the pit.  Pit space is limited and sharing pits is highly encouraged.  There are no showers in the pit area and I am not sure if you can camp, but do know people that stay over night.  Last time California Race Services was there.  Call them and see if they will be there.  www.crs-tires.com

Thanks I will give a few people a call and see what's up.

Ok.  Just called CRS.  They will be there on Friday.  Called the track and they said the track will close each night about an hour after racing.  No camping and the gates will close at 5:00 pm on Thursday.  FYI.

I'm pretty sure that I saw someone in a toy hauler when I got in on Sunday so I would assume that they were locked in over night (in the track not the trailer).  Gates are scheduled to open at 7:00 but there is usually a line that starts forming at around 6 on sat (or at least that's what i saw in feb).  I think it's ok to camp just outside the track but there won't be any showers there.  It will be hot enough so you could probably use one of the solar showers.

The gates aren't supposed to close from the time we open them at 7:00am Friday until 1 hour after we finish on Sunday. We pay for you to be able to stay overnight in your self contained motorhome, so who ever gave you that info from Firebird was not looking at the correct event sheet.

The only time during the evening the gates should be closed is if the security person has use the "facilities" if you know what I mean.

Wrist band must be purchased before 5:00pm to gain access overnight.

Good luck, and have fun.

Thanks Kevin.  Now al I need is a shower!!

That's great to get the info.  I will probably just stay up there overnight (I'm from Tucson) instead of leaving the trailer and driving home.  Like I said earlier, the solar showers work great but you will need to get a tarp or wear shorts while doing it.  It's plenty hot here so the temps shouldn't be a problem.

After a little searchin, you can get a shower for $5 at the Apache Junction KOA.  It's exit 197 off of 60, one mile north.  I don't hink it is super close to the track but for $5 it's cool. I am going to stay at the track as well.

If you come by my house for $2 I will turn the garden hose on you.  ;D
