GSXR RACER MIKE

In the October 2006 issue of RRW on page 7 there is mention that Brainerd International Raceway was sold to a 33 year old amateur car roadracer. Apparently he is going to seperate the road coarse from the drag strip and make the road course multi-configurable with some new track sections (so possibly no more fastest 1st turn in road racing?).

Anyways, this brings me to a question. It says that he is searching for new racing events which led me to wonder if anyone has heard if CCS is interested in going back to BIR under this new track ownership? Track Addix already goes there and does track days, so why not race there again? I raced there twice in the past with CCS and actually liked going there (something diffferent) and would definately return if CCS raced there again as part of the Midwest region like before, and maybe even if it was a Great Plaines event that didn't conflict with the Midwest schedule.

What would you guys think of this, especially those who have raced there before?

I think it's a great idea, I'd definitely go.  Other than Track Addix, CRA races there.

If any one's interested the tenative (not yet set) 2007 CRA schedule at Brainerd will be:
May 4, 5, 6
June 15, 16, 17
July 20, 21, 22
August 17, 18, 19
September 14, 15, 16
CCS MW/GP #82 am
CRA #82 am
07 CBR600RR
Two Brothers Powersports, Lithium Motorsports, RoadRacePrep.com

How many motorcycle racing events can one have at a facility before it hurts one or all of the organizations?

I think having five sportsman level events is close to max.  You need the locals to help fill the grids for the organizations that travel, in my opinion, otherwise both get canabalized for entries.

CCS did race there before.  Trackaddix is a CCS affiliate.

Is he looking to get the AMA back?

Modifying the track?  I don't know if that would apply to bikes.  Might be more for cars and various SCCA regulations in addition to making the opportunity for track days for cars and bikes with less speed.

yes, he is making changes to the track. right after T10, there will be a return road on the opposite side of the track from the tower. we will use this instead of the main front straight, taking the bikes off the VHT of the drag strip. we will then turn back onto the front straight nearer T1. T2 is looking go get a big make over with the addition of a chicane. other changes that would include making part of the infield section into a 2 mile short course are other possibilities.

he is looking to get the AMA back, as a major goal.
