I think we just had the last race on the Shenandoah for the year. The turnout's looked pretty slim to me at every event there. What do you guy's (that have ridden it)  think about this track?
I have talked to a lot of racers (some of which were getting a ride back to the pits after crashing) that have ridden on it and for the most part they seem to like it, some even said they loved it. So, I was wondering why the turn out's aren't better!

After the weekend I can honestly ay I look forward to going back.  I had a real bad image of the track before going there.  Then it took a few sessions of practice before I felt comfortable.  But after the GTU I discovered I really enjoyed racing there and look forward to next year.

CCS is holding a free practice day there on Friday before the Summit Main weekend September 9-10.  I'm considering going just to get more time in even though we won't be racing there again until next year.  Hey, it's free track time!  How can you beat that?

Amen!  I think anyone who wants to find out firsthand what the track's like would be crazy not to take advantage of CCS/BSR's offer... what a deal!

I have grown to like it after racing there twice now, but it would probably not be a good track for anything bigger than a 600. It is just too tight. As an example I finished 2nd in the middleweight SS expert race on an SV 650 , I wouldn't even think about riding my SV in a 600 race on any other track. The only real bad spot I see is the sponge bob chicane, but every track has at least one or more unsafe areas.

I practice there on Sat, then decided to sit out the GTL race.  It seems like a workable track for practice, but my concern racing is the chicane (no heros in practice, but in a race, that could end badly) and the fact that if someone dumped their bike in front of you and you had to run off to avoid them, there is really no avoiding the walls.

It was my first time at the track, and I definitely got much more comfortable as the day went on.  The grip is excellent, but the track is crowned like a public road, ie, half the width is cambered and half is negative camber. That is the worst part, and makes it very hard to pass in the turns or exits.

Everyone I saw, however, used pretty good judgment and was riding sensibly, but if you tried some of the silliness/stuffing sometimes seen, it would be dangerous.

I've written it off.  It may be slow, but no real passing, except to stuff one.  I really cant say I like it.  Dont think CCS should return in 07

it's gonna be a call CCS will have to seriously look at making...I think the number of registered riders on Saturday was like 68. CCS has got to be taking a big hit on that...can't be in the business and not make money - or at least break even at an event...

I don't know about that, I passed a few 600s on my lowly SV 650 the 2 times I have been there :).

Because your just fast.  I think its a dumb track. :)  CCS should go to Beaver Run instead of Shanendoah.!!!!

68 riders is just sad.....Loudon, NH has a ton of walls (and a ton of air fence) and they see close to 1000 entries per weekend.  The track owner need to make runoff where they can and where they can't, put up airfence.  If not, CCS/ASRA needs to walk away and only book events on Summit main.  I don't see WERA racing there....why should CCS??

Really?  I talked to Rob Wilkey and he said there was at least 8 different places to pass safely on every single lap, though he used 10-12 places most of the time...  maybe you should jump on the free track day offer and check it out again... just a thought.

I was there for my second time this year and even though I ride an Aprilia Mille, the track is fun. Yes, I am the one that took out sponge bob, but even after hitting him I only slid a few feet, and only bent my frame slider. I was going in there a little hot and just got too close to him and clipped him about mid chest on me. Like hastings said, the smaller bikes do well there but there was this guy loyd on a GSXR 1000 that was running right behind wilkes. So I think before anyone passes judgement on the track they should try it out for themselves. Hey its a free trackday
