Robert (Robbie) Wilkey did a 1:29:83 at Summit Shenandoah, Sunday August 27, 2006 on his 636!  This breaks the previous record held by Ryan Patterson. That kid is hella fast!  Watch out experts, he's coming for you next year!

Which layout are you guys running...and clockwise or counter?

clockwise- I think he went a little faster later on.

Was anybody injured this weekend and where?

Reason I am inquiring is because our kart club ran a practice there last Monday to address safety issues for our upcoming September event.

We normaly run the full course and this is the first time running Shenandoah.

We are not using either two of the chicanes or the full esses.  My lap time on a stock moto engine 125shifter was low 1:23's Our open motors are in the 17 & 18's.

I have serious issues with this track and am looking for data on your event.
Thanks for your help!!

A friend of mine was racing up there this weekend and just told me the same thing. Wilkey was riding his ass off. He was close to the track record at CMP too.

My buddy was racing this weekend after a 3 year break and had nothing but great things to say about the track. I've avoided the place thinking I'd end up in a wall. Might give it a shot next year.

It was clockwise and the slower layout with the extra chicane.  His final record time was 129.599 when he caught and passed Brian Bemisderfer in race 14 after starting almost at the back of the second wave....  hella fast.

One girl got hurt after over breaking coming down the front straight.  What we believe happened is she over braked heading towards Spongbob, what we called the chicane just before start-finish.  She saw she wasn't going to make the turn and the rules for the day stated that if you blow the chicane you must come to a complete stop otherwise take a 1 lap penalty.

She ended up on the ground and then off to the local hospital where she had surgery on her leg/knee.

Otherwise no other injuries.  I wasn't sure about the track t first and after the first practice session I was even more skeptical.  But by the end of the GTU on Saturday I found that I really enjoyed the layout.  Very technical and extremely tiring.

In addition to the injury on the front straight, there were two minor injuries in 6 coming out of the hook on Saturday.  Also a down rider in late 4 in the cutover to 7, no medic nescessary for them.

fo sure, definately one of the most crash-free weekends (95% maybe?) overall I've seen in a long time.

Crashing was so light that a 17 race schedule finished extra early!  woohoo!

Is it safe to assume speeds are pretty low for you guys there, which in turn has a direct affect on the amount of crashes and the turn out of the actual crashes?

You mention crash out of 6.  This area for us karters is one of my biggest concerns.  Coming out of 4,5 you are pointed for the cross road into the paddock.  My concern on a kart is that in race conditions if someone goes off there the would hit that cross road and launch.

I watched an on board video of TPM track day and was board to tears :sleeping2:

Bryan Bemisderfer tore the place up this week-end. I think he won everything he entered in (which is pretty impressive on a Buell!). We don't get to see much of him at Summit these days, I guess he is running the ASRA schedule.

Mr. Wilkey is absolutely astounding. There is no telling how far the kid could go if he keeps this up!

Both these guy's are great fun to watch.
