Well...I finally got to go to my first track day! That was an absolute blast!!! ;D The track is in great condition and has a really nice layout. It was colder than frigging hell though. I actually got 4 full sessions in and about 3 sessions that were cut short due to a few carburetion problems. No crashes, but I did overcook turn 1 once and got the front tire in the dirt a bit, good save though... :o . Fat Bloke and Bill Brown really have their stuff together and run a good show...I strongly recommend anybody that wants to get their feet wet to do it at Jennings. I was running lap times in the 1:35-1:37 range by the middle of my third session. I guess that is about the middle of the intermediate group...can anybody tell me what the lap times are like there in AM Supertwins? I'll take that for my first time out. Now I just gotta get the damn carbs adjusted right. We tore it apart once, but didn't feel like doing it again at 2:15 when we had a 5 hour+ drive home after, so I left a bit early... :( . Nevertheless, I had a really good time and I can't wait for my first race at Homestead! Thanks to everybody that has given me advice and sold me their used stuff to get going, I really appreciate it! By the way, I couldn't believe the motor on my Duc...it should be really competitive in the Twins classes once I learn to ride it well..I smoked a few RC51's, a new 999, and a 748 in the straights! Can't wait to ride with the faster guys so I can do some learning...unfortunately, I was about 15-20 secs faster than all of the guys in the slow group and the bike started having it's problems before I could move up...next time. Thanks again, and I'll see you Florida Region Racers in February!

You are about 8 sec off the Am lap times. ;D

I figured about that much.  I lift way too early on corner entry.  But it was my first for a lot of things yesterday.  First time on track, first time on that bike, and first time using GP shift.  Hopefully I'll get faster and be competitive.  Thanks for the info.  When you say 8 secs...is that off the leaders?

Quoteand first time using GP shift.

If you have a street bike, change it to GP shifting also.  This way you won't have to think about which way you have to go.

I actually no longer have a street bike, but 23 years of doing it the other way will take some breaking...lol.  I only actually went the wrong way once, but didn't let out the clutch  :o.  Not bad, though for my first time...I sctually really like it.
