Due to recent spinal vertebral reconstruction and fusion surgery, resulting from osteoporosis (not injury), my orthopod will release me to ride and roadrace (but not motox of any kind -which I don't do anyway) ONLY if I wear a (preferably) custom, the best back/spine protector, or the most protective commercial design, in addition to the armor built into my leathers. Right now, I'm torn between the 661 Pro Back Guard and the Joe Rocket Speedmaster Back Protector (compared at Chapparral). Anyone have an opinion and/or experience with these devices, or would you recommend another and which other. I will be released to race on April 1, and I want to be ready to go! Thanks very much.

I figure Nicky, Colin, and Mat can't be wrong when it comes to safety items:

I might have to give them a try..

I have a dainese wave back protector from Audrey at www.motoliberty.com

Here is the closest thing to it that she has online:

The wave has a metal honeycomb core which will sustain 1 back impact.  I like the design and when I bought it 2 years ago it was one of the highest rated on the market (by some study, I forget what it was...)
