Just wanted to say hi to all of you.
I am new here but have been reading all your post
for sometime now.  So much so I feel like I know
all of ya :). I do have a ? I hope someone can
help me with. Can I race a 93 CBR600F2 in Thunderbike? I think it's the same as a 92 right?
Any help would be great.

I think you can.  They are exactly the same, other than the VIN showing that it is a 1993.

Calling CCS directly and speaking with Eric, the CCS Director of Competition would probably be the best way to get a real answer that you can bank on.

6.5.3- CCS Thunderbike Class displacement limits are absolute and are set as follows:
THUNDERBIKE (Amateur and Expert)
Single cylinder, Unlimited displacement
Two stroke, Unlimited displacement
Twin cylinder, air cooled, Unlimited displacement
Twin cylinder, liquid cooled, 3 or less valves per cylinder, Unlimited displacement
Twin cylinder, liquid cooled, 4 valve per cylinder, up to 750cc
Three cylinder, air cooled, non-fuel injected, up to 1200cc
Four cylinder, air-cooled, up to 1200cc
Four cylinder, liquid cooled, 1990 to 1992 model year, up to 650cc
Four cylinder, liquid cooled (oil or water), pre-1990 model year, up to 860cc
All air-cooled, 2-valve, unlimited displacement

so based on that...the '93 F2 would not be legal to run in thunderbike

I race this exact bike, so despite Paul's jealousy, here's the scoop.
Short Answer:  Yes.
Long answer:  I bought my 1993 F2 in the winter of 2003, but only after I did some email correspondence with Kevin Elliot.  He told me that because the 1993 model was identical to 1992 it was okay.  (The last year for the F2 was the 1994 model & that had the 'fancy' adjustable forks.)  Lucky for me I printed off all the emails, because I ran into problems at two races, Barber in 2003 & Heartland Park in 2004.  Each time when I finished my Thunderbike race, I was met by a CCS official at the exit of pit lane and told I was dq'd.  I would then go get my paperwork, explain to the race official that I had spoken to god, & was cleared to race the 1993 F2.  The officials always checked the tablets, saw that it was, in fact, god who had etched the stone and I was sent on my way.
One interesting item to add; the race directors at those events always knew the 1993 F2 was legal & had been cleared in CCS organizational meetings.  I checked
I was always stopped by some zealot (Larry,hpt) filled with self importance & waving a rulebook around with gusto.  (Imagine Cartman in a CCS shirt yelling, "Respect my Authoritaaay".)  The official always looked so surprised after I politely showed the paperwork.

Because the 93 bikes are identical to the 92 bikes, I never felt like I was trying to wiggle around the rules.  I'm a big fan of sticking to the spirit of the class, and it's not like I have some super-special, factory 'race-use-only' bike that demolishes the competition.  (Ahem.  Paul?  Have you been spending $30k lately?)
And to be brutally honest, the bike is great for the novice classes, but gets a bit out classed in the expert class.  (Umm, or maybe it's the rider!)

Now where did I leave that $30k?!

Good God man are you insane? me spend $30 grand on a race bike so I can throw it down the track the 1st chace I get? Nooooo way!  ;D

Should they include the '93 F2 in T-bike? sure....I was just pointing out the rule book to the original post. Nothing against the F2's at all.  If he gets to run it by going through the motions like you did - great. But wouldn't want him to get DQ'd for it either if he didn't read/know the rule. Just helping out.

In the right hands and set up properly the F2 can outrun just about anyone. Mid-Atlantic EX - T-Bike 2nd place overall for last year was an F2 (#427)  So it's not that outclassed.

ALthough I'm sure the sequel to HIGHSIDE! will also be a work of fiction, maybe you could work in a scene like that.

i know for a fact you can race that year. in the 2004 ccs season i was in the florida region riding my buell and i just barely was beaten by a 96 F2. i complained about the year of the bike, but Kevin couldn't do anything about it.

F2 wasn't built in 96 - F3 was.
