  In issues 5 & 6 of Cycle News it was reported that when Scott Hollingsworth was fired as Director of AMA Pro Racing, a Patricia someone or other had actually been the architect of that little coup. ( Sorry, I left issues 5 & 6 at work.) She had been appointed to be the interim Pres. of AMA even though she knew absolutely nothing about racing or motorcycling of any sort.

  Hollingsworth was going to run for the overall Presidency of AMA operations as THAT office had been vacated, but Patricia wanted that office. His contract was to expire as the AMA Pro Racing director, but instead of letting his contract expire, they asked him to leave. He did not want to go but they gave him the boot anyway.

  Speculation per another lawsuit of Hollingsworth v. AMA, a la Edmonson, has probably brought the AMA Pro Racing house down amongst other numerous things. They lgave $3 million to Edmonson just a few years ago and wouldn't want to give away any more monies for bad management, again.

  Adam, are you talking about AMA or AMA Pro Racing per your CEO/tri council comment?

  Honda having walked away from it's AMA Pro Racing Board chair, before it was dissolved, is pretty indicative that the situation was muddled and ugly at best. Now it can go back to being a simple sanctioning unit?

I have a call to make.  This will be interesting.  I think it might be for the better, because most of the AMA Pro Racing stuff, the company, messes up AMA pro racing, the actual competitiveness of the event for most spectators, teams, and riders in the world of entertainment.

I can't remember.  But they did have a trial.  Might have ended just before it went to whom ever was going to make a decision.  I don't think it was a hard case...the AMA messed up.

Dave, the article you posted went into details of the trial, post interviews with the jury, the details of the verdict and monetary values associated with each finding, etc, etc

Yes, the AMA messed up with Roger Edmonson. They tried to manhandle him and they ended up paying big time in the long run. I even considered canceling my AMA membership (I have been a member for over 15 years), but I decided that what they do for motorcycling as a whole was good for us regarding the stupid things they have done in the past. Hopefully the people in charge can look forward and make the right decisions. In my personal opinions, John Ulrich and Kevin Schwantz was the best thing that had happened to AMA pro. Now, whether this new situation continues with that train of thought is something to keep an eye out for.
