Do they race on Daytona when it rains??I am comeing down from Canada to race the CCS races in march.Just wondering what they do when it rains.

Super Dave

Yes, often you race in it.  There have been times when something happens that you can't (oiled up track and rain).  The AMA won't generally race at Daytona in the rain.  CCS does.

Like Dave said:
AMA will not run in a speedway in the rain.
But CCS/ASRA will run there in the rain.

LMAO, been to Daytona before? Avoid the paint stripes and watch the throttle coming out of the chicane too. Almost hi-sided there!

There was good grip there in Oct. for the ROC. For turn 1 you need to stand it up a bit as there is a paint stripe at the transition comming off the banking that you are at lean over in the dry. Some puddles form comming out of the infield onto the back straightaway, and then you MUST avoid any lean over the paint entering the chicane..

Yep, the banking has good grip in the rain (water runs off it pretty fast). It's the paint stripes and puddles that bite. Worst is when you race there in semi-dry conditions, or experience heavy rain in one section and not others. Daytona eats rain tires.

Definately avoid braking on the paint strips when they are wet!  I remember in practice in Oct coming into Turn 1 off the banking still on the brakes and got a nasty headshake over both lines (there are 2, about 1.5 feet wide).    Only did that once!  Otherwise grip wasn't too bad and had fun in it.
