Pretty cool to do what?  Make a commercially available racebike?  Yamaha did it with the R7, and I'm sure there have been others.

Personally I'd rather build my own...

Nah, just to build a fully dedicated race bike. Yes, I know that there have been a few (TZ's, RS, OWO1, RC45, etc) but it's different than the standard japanese bikes...
