Has anyone heard any more info on the Great Plains division, as far as what classes are to be run and if all the dates have been secured?

Gixxer124

There's only one class this year. 125 GP. ;)

So whats the scoop on Hastings.....

I noticed the schedule on the CCS website has 2 Hastings events scheduled, July and September.  Trackaddix and Hastings website shows only the September date.  So are you saying not ready for July, or not ready for any of it?  Is this from a credible source?

Thanks

I have heard that Dean is having a VERY hard time getting the ball rolling...

It is my understanding that he is going to use a local shop in town for Tech Inspections and that he has not given our very important Vendors any information on what to expect at his events...With time ticking down to the 1st GP Event, most of our usual vendors still have not commited to being at the GP Events...

Not trying to start any crud, or take anything away from TrackAddix, but there is no new information on their site in regards to Fee's. Classes, Schedules or anything like that...

The information on his site has not changed since the anouncement quite a while ago...

I can not reveal my souces, so take it for what it is worth, or call the BS Flag on me...But I believe my sources...

I believe the gateway event may be an issue as well, no contract signed as of yet?

Hey guys, this is Alex from TrackAddix.  We're getting ready to release information on the Great Plains series, so hopefully that will answer a lot of questions for you when it goes live.  We've been waiting to relase our new site until we have all the information in place so that we can answer everyone's questions at the same time.  I've got to say, it has been a hell of a lot of work (sanctioning agreement, scheduling with tracks, reviewing class structures, race day schedule, race forms, timing system, new web site, class sponsors, etc, etc, etc...) BUT I think the end result is going to be awesome.  We're putting a lot of effort into make the series right rather than just slap something together and throwing it out there.  CCS and all of the tracks have been great to work with.  If you want to be notified when the new site and GP Series information goes live, sign up for our announcemnts at:

I can only guess at the amount of work it would take to get a new series started up.  I also expect there to be some delays and ooops the first part of the year.  Dean has been around the track scene for a while and should have some good ideas of what it's going to take to make a successful program.

It's January and I'm not concerned.   His 2006 schedule says "Tentative" on top and that's the way I take it.

If I don't see any news by early March I'll start getting nervous and get a back-up plan in place.  Until then I'll keep shopping for a toy hauler.

Bottom line is I want to see this Great Plains series happen.  It will allow me to get to all but about two venues (they are just too far away for me).  Otherwise my only other reasonable option is racing at Brainerd every month.  Although that's a fun track I like a little variety.  Plus, I got the Brainerd flyer in the mail last week and they only have one national event scheduled there this year.  NHRA drag races.  The financial condition of that track has been in question for a few years and being located where it is I find it hard to believe that they will keep the track going versus licking their wounds and turning it into a resort or condo's or ?  Club racing and one big event a year likely won't do it.  If Brainerd did close the CRA would likely adopt MAM down by Omaha as its new home track.  But if that happened it could also pump a bunch of riders into the Great Plains series.

Agreed.  I make plans months in advance for the next season.  It's 2006, and any kind of prelimary information at any point on the road would have been necessary in December at the latest, really in November.

I know how contracts work.  It's not easy.  Gateway seems hard to work with from what I tried to do with them at one time.  MAM was strange too, but they had a change in management.  For the good?

Hastings?  Well, weather and how cheap they go on some stuff will determine the long term viability of the racing surface.  Get it done and let the place sit.  If that isn't done, well, it's junk.  MAM and Autobahn both put down pavement at the wrong time of year in addition to not putting enough down.  Autobahn has bent wheels on motorcycles that haven't even left the track, and MAM was broken up at the first motorcycle event in 2002, it's first year of operation.

I hope the ownership has the finances and the forsight to understand that they probably won't have any events this year.
