Was this discussed already?  If so, I missed it.

With the new points and top 10 plate assignments for '06, how about grid placements like the ROC for the regional races?  Grid by order of class points using PI for ties?

Does having the consistant faster guys at the front of the grid make turn 1 starts safer?

Hey Dave,

not only does this make sense, it is a safety issue.
Good point.

There were no rule changes regarding grids.

It should be gridded based on points.  It is a safety thing also.  You can be the slowest guy out there and start pole each race.

I would think (from a business perspective) that the driver for gridding by entry date was based on maximum receipt of revenue as early as possible.

I.e., your pre-entry for the races 3 weekends from now are covering this weekend's costs.

With the new incentive to pre-register, that might help things.  Another thing that may have merit (on down the road) would be a % discount for pre-paying the entire season.

I'm not sure how many people pre-pay the whole season, or how many would if there were a (say 10%) discount.

I have heard that at Wera you can pre enter for the whole year but they don't charge your card until the monday before the race weekend. That seems fair to me. Jim

From a consumer prospective, I'd rather pay as I go, knowing approximately where I'd be in the grid.  From a biz point of view, I'd rather have consistant cash flow throughout the race season; i.e:  pay as you show, and maybe a discount for pre-registration.

Or.. as I sometimes think that I have a death wish... be on pole on a 125 in a GTL race. :)  But starts are key for me to even have a chance in the race.

CRA does the same thing. We usually pre-register for the entire year up front and they don't charge our card until the Monday AFTER the event.
