Does anyone have one of the new suits w/ the dual chest zippers (XES, A-stars, Vanson, Komodo)?? How do you like them on and off the bike?

At first I was thinking it'd be easier to get into, etc. But then I was thinking that between sessions or races, I generally am walking around with the top unzipped, arms flapping behind me. With a dual zipper, would that be a pain?

I'm buying a new set for after Christmas and am finalizing my research ; )

Thanks!

Some of the twin zipper suitshave had an issue with the zips creeping down while you are riding the bike. As far as walking around topless, you would have to zip each zipper up part way so you weren't also bottomless.  ;)

Please be aware that doing this in either a single or twin zip suit causes strain to the zippers, which can later facilitate failure.

Do or do not, there is no "try".

Haven't had a chest failure on my two suits with double zippers.  If you can get the non-Vanson double zipper models, there might be a copyright infringement.  I don't know the status on that, but I know in the past there were issues.

Yes, with a double zipper, when you don't have your neck velcro done up right, it can ride down.

When I did prototype testing in 1998 for Vanson on the double zipper suit, besides being easier to get out of, I found that because there wasn't a zipper flap in the middle of my chest or a zipper, the ventilation through the chest of the suit was outstanding.  So much so that I could feel the circulation of air to my back on a heavy Vanson Leather racing suit.

I love the double zipper Vanson, especially on hot days.  With a liner its easy to get in and out of it.  Haven't had a zipper creeping problem and don't know why it would be any different than a single.  IME it crashes just as well as a single zipper, i.e. no zipper failures.
It probably doesn't stay up as well as a single zipper if your arms are flapping, but I don't miss that.
Did I mention that it's easy to get in and out of?

Therer are lots of things related to racing that I'm not sure about.

I am SURE that dual zippers on a leather suit do not constitute "copyright infringement" or anyother kind of infringement of intellectual property.  That is just silly.

Vanson makes fine suits, they don't need bogus IP claims to protect their market share.

.

Yes, it was something that they did.  It was their design, and they applied for specific copyright coverage for that.  The coverage applied to the US, I know that.  Alpinestars immediately copied it, and when some of their leathers that had the double zipper design, they had to remove them from distribution.  I don't know the expiration of that copyright, but it existed.

OK, maybe I can swap them some legal advice for some leathers.  Finally, something useful.

Jim -- I'll call you this week on the other email.
