They are in Vernon Hills, close for you.  ;D

Why I recommend them is because they have great customer service and more reliable computers. Or go with Dell or Gateway.

I usually buy used Mac's.

Hard to get rid of old ones because they still work well.

Dell will have great prices for what you want to do...  They usually have pretty good package deals for consumers too!

Tiger direct has good fast computers in that price range, basic units will go for $300-$500.

Just bought a new Gateway yesterday. A laptop. You can get into one that will be plenty more than you need for about 700.00 new.

We bought a Compaq Piesario a while back. We really like it. Reasonably priced and lots of memory for storage.

Stay away from CDW.  >:( The last 2 companies I worked for dumped them because of poor service. And sales reps that talk down to IT guys etc. Years ago they were OK but as they have grown so have their issues.

Your best bet would be a Dell or (dare I say  :o ) an Apple.  ;) Look online for deals using buy.com or Googles Froogle.

I've never had a problem with them. I did alot of business with them when I worked for the radio station and now, they always honor over warranty services for cheap and fix things right. Everybody is different.  :-/
