2006 Rule Changes
by Karen, 10/2/2005

RRSW staff was up well into the night deciding on changes for next year. Here are some of the changes for 2006. (Be aware that these changes are for 2006, not for the November race. You should finish a series with the same rules you started with.)

How about some incentive to be at Firebird in November? We may still be fighting out how Overall Champion will be determined, but we all agree that Class Champions deserve much more attention. We want to recognize these winners all year long, not just at the awards ceremony. Starting in 2006, all Expert Class Champions will be reserved Pole Position in that race for 2006. So now "Class Champion" also means "Pole Sitter". You will be right up front, where you can take the credit you deserve and defend your title.

Gridding by Points: You asked for it - you got it. We will be gridding all pre-entered riders by points next year. The first race of the year will be by time of entry, but after that, we go by points for all pre-entries. Post entered riders will go by time of entry only.

The penalties for not having a transponder or running the wrong number are much to severe. But we have to do something, so we are going to knock you off the podium, not knock you out of the race. In 2006 the penalty will be changed from DisQualification to "loss of 3 positions in the results."

I RACE MID-ATLANTIC...DOES THIS MEAN OURS WILL CHANGE TOO?

Not unless you can convice the TX office to change as well.

SW is a CCS affiliate for next year (as opposed to being a CCS region) and as such, can write their own rules.  Much like how ASMA was an affiliate this year, and an ASMA race was nothing like a CCS race.

There are pros and cons to being an affiliate.  The SW region was being screwed by CCS corporate as it was (they were planning on cancelling the November race) so it makes sense for them to do it this way.

I like that F-40 being Unltd GP rules. Lets hope all of CCS gets that one and the grid by points too. Sounds like Southwest is on top of things letting people know early of the rule changes.

Good for you, guys.

Those are good changes for the individuals that fund the organizations that sanction the sport...racers.

I wish TX would have the forsight to do the same.
