Were the Daytona Grids really that small?

Anyone who was at Daytona able to fill us in?  The results would indicate there must have been a lot of no-shows.

I know when I talked to Kevin Elliott in Sept. he said the entries were as high or higher than they've ever had previously.

Just curious if that many people really didn't go.  Hurricane threat?  Gas Prices?

Oh yeah.... I thought about tagging this question on to one of the other current Daytona threads but didn't want to be convicted for threadjacking ;D

Conviction of threadjacking is punishable by "thong"...

I wonder too.  Usually, there are only official numbers released if there is a record number of entries or something similar.  I can't say what this year had.  I think in 2000 the Daytona Fall event had broke the record for a club race at just under 2000, then in 2001 at Road America, the record was broken again with, like, 2025 entries.

For the races I entered....
