Double Points-VIR or Shenandoah?

I brought this up @ the riders meeting.

I don't think we should have a double points round at Shenandoah in Oct.  I was there and I don't believe that it is ready for bar to bar racing, let alone with championships on the line.  I suggest making VIR the double points round.  Will that affect the turnout?  Of course, but as we saw, mainly guys chasing points were in attendance anyway.

We didn't see many accidents because the people there were very cautious.  With  a few more riders thing would change and at this track it wouldn't be for the better.  Can it be good at some point?  Yes.  Because of how tight it is some will still not like it, but with the proper run off guys would be able to really race and hang it out a bit.

Anyway, I wouldn't want to be in a tight points race after all the effort during the season and have it come down to running on Shenandoah for all the marbles.

VIR should be double points.

There is more than one way to look at this.

Doing this would mean you're also competing against the SE region guys for your Mid-Atlantic points.  More chance of someone you're not directly competing with taking you out, possibly leading to you not be able to make the other races you are in.  Then you'll wish you had the chance for double points at Shenandoah.

I'm not really a big fan of the new track yet, but i agree you this should be a Mid Atlantic event ONLY!

That works both ways, SE guys don't like to get taken out either

I think he's talking about one( Buell) rider in particular.Nothing against Buell's.

I think double points rounds were intended for those events in which they wanted to boost rider attendance (ie-FUSA rounds).

They know VIR would be popular and Shenandoah isn't so thats why its a double point event.

Once again, CCS pulling your purse strings connected to your heart

As it's been said before,

QuoteNormally the first and last rounds of every region are double points and all races held in conjunction with Formula USA races.

This is completely off the point.  VIR is a race track, Shenandoah is a work in progress.  You can be taken out anywhere.  I believe for a championship you should be able to ride unimpeded by anything other than your own ability.  (For all races for the matter). Not somewhere your hope will work.  You can not do that at Shenandoah.

Rider concerns should always take the lead, and being at that track with it's limited runoff is not safe, especially if you add a few more bikes and a carrot to the mix.

Ned,
come-on give it up. You've been around long enough to know your not going to change thing's.
It's to late in the game. We've all tried to voice our opinion's at one time or another to no avail. It's stressful enough when your in the hunt . Just take a step back, race like you know how and pray for everyone involved.   Good luck, see you at VIR. 8)

To bad that this is true.

Heal up.

I was suprised that CCS made the first shenandoah event worth points since the track is an admitted work in progress.  I only went because of a points chase.  I wonder what the turn out would have been if it wasn't part of anyone's championship efforts?  Running a double points weekend there seems silly if the track is still a work in progress.
I agree with switching the double points to VIR.
