I'm looking into getting a new back protector and I just wanted to get some input from everyone what they like or don't like about their back protector.  I would like to find one with more advanced protection, like kidney gaurds or something (I don't think my kidney should be forced to be run over twice!), and something with a "crispy shell" with a soft padding underneath.  Any tips?!

If you come down hard on your back, the protector will be shot, but your spine should be pretty appreciative of it.

Tell Audrey I sent you over.  She'll probably cut you a better deal on it.

I have the Bohn(?sp) and it is great.  It has that gel type material for better shock absorbtion and covers the kidneys.  I don't have it here, but I think there's another company name on it too... maybe someone else knows the one I'm talking about?

Ok, I'm a 'tard.  It was KNOX, not Bohn and it is sold under Teknic, here's a link to the KD.com page, but I'm sure you could find a better deal.

Knox and Bohn are about the same... I think the Bohn was sort of a 'knock-off'.

I've landed all over my Bohn and both my back and it have held up just fine.
CCS AM 815... or was that 158?

I have a Dianese that I've crashed in twice (Kim can tell about the first time...well, maybe not as I was behind her), except for some muscular pains my back was fine.

I have the Knox/Bohn protector. Haven't crash tested it but it's comfortable, and I like that it wraps around the kidney area, not like some of the turtle shell plate-type protectors that just go up the back. It also goes all the way down and covers the tailbone pretty well.

I also added a Bohn chest protector this season and it's very comfortable also, breathes pretty good and is so thin that I still fit in my leathers with back and chest protectors on.
