For those who run CCS and WERA.

I'm planning on doing a WERA race next month and was hopeing to get some cliff notes instead of drilling through all the rules.

What's required of the bike above what CCS requires?  I heard WERA don't make you wire all the header bolts anymore and have loosened some of the rules???

I know they grid by points...I'm more interested in stuff I need to past tech.

Pretty basic really.  
We had our bikes set up for WERA tech, and passed CCS tech with no problem.  So either they're the same, or CCS is more lax.
Notable diffs:
WERA requires you to buy or rent a transponder.
WERA decals on the bike (just like CCS)
WERA requires removal of the belly pan for tech.

I would do that regardless of where you race.  It's keeps you worry-free about random stuff coming loose or falling off.  Plus you don't have a care in the world when running through tech.

We do trust these motorcycles with our lives ya know.

954.  I got the basics wired...axles, oil stuff, calipers.

It's the other stuff I'm not clear on.  Raditor cap?  Securing all lines???...everyone?

The last rule in for machines in the wera rules says you gotta wire or secure your caliper pad pins....I have no ideal how to wire that!

Yes, radiator cap also.  We've used a clip (from Home Depot), to secure it, rather than directly safety wiring it.  That way you can quickly remove the cap if need be and not have to re-safety wire it.

As for caliper pins, I think a lot of bikes have those drilled now, so you could look around and see how it's done.  Basically you need to drill the pins themselves and put a little R-clip in them.

WERA's a great organization. Visit they're website and review the rulebook. I started running this series this year, and it's been great fun. Seems the competition is a "half a step up" from the CCS series I also attend. ;)

Found some local wera boys to help me...sometimes the rules wording it's clear.

I've heard the same on the comp.  It's just a regional not a nat. and it's Nashville (nobody likes this track, but it's 30min from me!) so I don't expect a big turnout though there are some fast locals here.

Think I'm going to have to drop JGP or VIR to do Nashville...3 in a month is too much.  Can't seem to decide.  I love VIR but Jennings would be much cheaper!!!

If it moves or can be removed, safety wire it.  When you're finally done, safety wire the safety wire.  Then (in their supersport) be sure your tail section exactly mimics stock to the last hair, lest you be disqualified for "cheating".

Ok, perhaps I'm a little bitter about being DQd @ the GNF in 93 after riding my a$$ off on Metzelers IN THE SNOW to get the little bit of money avaialable.

The brake pad pins are a new rule. If your pins don't have clips on them. They will accept rtv on those. Also you don't need to bring all your gear or bellypan to tech. Just your helmet.
