Thanks to all the racers who braved the storm. Thanks to all the corner staff and race officials who stood in the eye of the storm. I want to say that the dedicated racers who came to the event " THAT WAS THE BEST DANG RACING AND CLOSEST FINISHES IN ALOT OF RACES I HAVE SEEN IN AWHILE, " Thanks For The Show !  Alan-Race Control

Yes, thanks to the all the staff, corner workers, & tech. The rain made it interesting at times to say the least. trying to figure out what part of the track was dry and what was not. The turnout was light, but it only takes two to make it a race.

I'll thank the staff also.  I appreciate there time & work, watching out for us.  ...and returning my knee puck.

I doubt I will return for the next race at RRR.  IMO It's not worth the money (with the twin sprints it cost me 330$ for entries).  It's a very dangerous track (the run off in T1 is amost null).  The sealer is like ice when wet.  You can count on there not being enough people for any contengency.  The track is very worn and patched up.  And it's one of the muggiest places I've been.  ...and the PA sucks.

Yeah, 2 makes a race but usually a pretty boring one...and one w/o contengency.

I really wish it would taken off the SE schedule.  I don't expect it to.  It's cheaper to rent than RA or CMP.

I agree, the track is not my favorite. I would like to CMP on the schedule. It  would be closer for MA riders also. I live in SC, so RRR is a 2 hour drive, the same as CMP. I think CCS would get a better turnout at CMP.

Clay

Agreed on that!  CMP isn't great, but RRR is one of the worst tracks out there.  I don't know the politics behind why they won't use CMP, but I sure would like to understand it.

Not to take away from the folks who run the CCS races.  They're always a great group.  Too bad I didn't get to race out there...I would have made 3.   ;D

I had a great weekend.  The staff and cornerworkers made everything go smoothly.  Too smoothly even, I just barely got my tire changed between practice and the GTL race.  I got lucky with the red flag.  I was running out of fuel after a few laps and got to fill up then, but I still wasn't able to set my tire pressure.

I'll agree on the lack of turn 1 runoff, especially when wet.  I found out firsthand in the final Supertwins race.  I HAD to lay it down in order to get stopped before the dead end. I must've been doing at least 50mph when I decided to put her down smoothly.  Fortunately the only damage was a broken front brake lever, not even scratches on the bodywork.  ;D

Clay, last year I heard a CCS offical answer the CMP question...they went up on the track rent.....Same w/ RA.  Cheap'Os.

I'd say CMP would have a better turnout....I rather run talladega before going back to rrr.  It's nothing special but at least the pavement is consistent!!!

CMP is a go-cart track! The back section is an absolute joke. The only people who want to race there are usually from the Charlotte area.

We all love staying there with the great choice of hotels and restaurants.

Roebling is the most fun you can have on two wheels!

And yes, when we used to race both, more people showed up in Savannah.

I think if they got RA inside of RRR and made the event FUSA/CCS with multiply regions (SE,FL,MA) they would get a good turn out.  Just look at the turn out for WERA at RA on this coming 4th of July weekend.

Clay

Like I said, CMP isn't great...but it's better than Roebling!  I too think they'd get a better turn out at CMP.  I SURE wish they'd run Road Atlanta and replace at least one of the Roeblings though.  RA is one of WERA's biggest events!  Why not make it one of CCS's biggest like Barber and VIR?   ???

Anyhow, we've definitely carried this off the main topic.  The CCS staff are always the best at the races!

Agreed! SE has the best officials and staff.

RRR is better than CMP and TGP for the fact of runoff area, the surface is wider. I'll take sand over AL riprap gravel anyday. As far as the owners go, if you can follow rules there isnt any trouble. If you don't like to play by the rules dont come to that track, I guess thats why its always a small turnout. I've been to Summit Point and its ten times worse than RRR.

The officials and riders did a great job this past weekend. The weather conditions are like trying to pick the winning lotto numbers.
