Need to replace the tires on the trailer. GoodYear Marathon are $25/ea more expensive than alternative no-name brand.  Opinions? Are the GoodYear worth the difference?

And no, I don't have tire warmers, wouldn't care if they went with a spec tire, can't run slicks in the classes I'm registered for and don't even bother suggesting I do the euro-van conversion for the extra width so I can run a better profile.  ;D

I don't know how fast you pull thr trailer or how much wght you haul, but i had a problem with the marathons blowing out so I went with an off brand that was E rated instead of D and have had no problems since,,,my 2 cts.

This is a toy hauler, pretty heavy pig. Don't go much faster than 75. Looking at C rated tires.

What size are they Jack?  225/75R15's?

If they are 205's, you should get the heavier 225's.  Those are appropriate for the weight of that big girl.

I think my tires are D rated, at least.

C rating is probably ok for a lighter axle.  I'd bet that your GVWR is 10k.

Jack are you running 15" or 16" wheels.

I picked up these tires for our utility trailer Goodyear G614RST in the LT235/85R16 (I think that is the only size they are made in).  These are Load range G tires with all steel belt construction. They are heavy(~50#) and expensive(~$200) but blowouts have gone to 0 for us since the change over to these 4 years ago prior we lost 1 per 1000 miles. They are a commercial tire and you would find them at commercial tire vendor not Discount Tire or NTB. Since we startied running them I have recomened them to several RV owners and they have spread like wildfire among that group as the durabilty and overbuild on them is important to prevent damage to trailers (the Toybox guys have really liked them for the extra magin of satey with the heavier loads some of them load up Harley's, Buggies, etc).

The C is going to be way under rated for TB that would be a small trailer to run those.

Hmmm.... Thanks guys.  They are the 205 75 15. The current tires are C rated. They are the original tires and have worked well for several thousand miles, but need to be replaced since they are worn. Since they work, I'm kind of hesitant to change sizes especially since there isn't a lot of fenderwell clearance. I've seen where these have rubbed a little.

Jack, I agree with Super Dave.  When Hanson was pulling his 40' fifth-wheel during his first AMA season, he went through tires like they were going out of style.  Eventually, he ended up putting the 225/75R15 Marathons on the trailer and never had a problem again.  When he sold the trailer, I bought his unused spare Marathon for my trailer.
