Will CCS ever post results on mylaps.com?

I searched all over MyLaps and found no CCS results and I searched this site for references to mylaps.com before posting this question.

So..  Will CCS ever post result times on mylaps.com? It really is nice top be able to compare times from various classes against personal times.

Probably not. I dont think the computer program they use for the timing system can do that. Just a guess. Plus they are strapped for staff as it is and have enough trouble keeping the results posted with the lack of staff.

Weak.... it would be so easy to do this.... That's what computers are for...

Once again, stop with the 'lack of staff'.  Geez, I've been out with Maddie.  It's my responsibility to post points and results and I haven't been here.  End of story.  We cannot post on mylaps.com because from what I understand that is an AMB program and we do not use AMB in any region but Southwest.  We have a program that was tailored for CCS and it is not compatible with mylaps.com.  FYI--most of the results so far this year have been posted during the race weekend at the track.  The only results that have been late was last week's Blackhawk and the Jennings round.  You guys have got to understand that after a weekend it's usually Wednesday and sometimes Thursday before we get the race data back.  Everything isn't instantanious (sp?) like we'd all like it to be.  Results can only be posted at the race if Kevin or I are there.  Obviously we can't be everywhere.  If results aren't up by Thursday of the week after the race, call me.  That's the point when results are 'missing'.

Tiffiney, what's the use of even having a computerized system if it can't help make your job easier?  I'm only asking to try and help.

What is it that you have to do to get the points updated?  Do you have to manually go through the results and then calculate the points?

Just curious how the process runs from your side.

Hope Maddie is getting better.  Strep is no fun!

You're right, computers should make life easier.  Sometimes they do, and sometimes I spend days tackling tiny computer errors.  Ever seen 'Office Space'?  Their fax machine is my RMSZ computer.

To update points I have to go through each class, name it, pull it off onto a disk, put it in my real computer, create an HTML, modify it, then post it.  It's not that it's complicated, just that it can be a little time consuming.  Really and truly, RMSZ is a brilliant program.

Maddie's doing better now.  She's finally started eating again.  Poor thing--her doc had never seen anyone as young as her with strep.  Her temp was 103.3 at the highest, never came below 102.  Doc also said it was so bad that there were blisters in her throat.  Thank goodness she can have ice cream in a few days!

I understand that its time consuming...but so is my hard earned money that I pay to race every time CCS has a race.

Point is....it should be done. It should be one more step that CCS makes to make itself better. I personally dont understand "ANY" business whether its racing or retail that shouldnt strive to be better each time it opens its doors for business.

I'm not saying that the results and points shouldn't be posted.  I'm saying our electronic scoring  is not compatable with mylaps.com.  I can't fix that.

I do strive to make everyone's racing experience better with each weekend.  To insinuate that I don't is beyond wrong.  You obviously don't know me.

I'm not whining about it being hard.  It isn't hard, I said it's time consuming.  No offense, but my daughter being extremely sick is (to me, maybe not to you) a good reason for me not to come in.  I can't help her getting sick, but my first day back I think I did a kick-butt job in getting every single region's points posted and making sure every weekend's results were up.

Tiffany, Take as much time as you would like when you have family issues as those mentioned.  We know the points are "there", just sometimes we have to be patient for them to be posted.  For what its worth, keep up the good work and hope everyone is feeling better soon!

I'm still curious on why CCS went with whatever transponder system chose rather than the AMB that every other racing org uses.

A few years ago a CCS official said it was some sort of ClearChannel redtape policy about not signing any 3 year contracts or something.

Any truth to this Tiff?

Well, if you can pull the data off the system, surely there must be some way to automate all of that right up to publishing the data on the web.

I know CCS has some qualms about letting you guys do stuff like that, but what they don't know can't hurt them.

I'd gladly take a look at what I could do to streamline the process for you.

Well, I am the one that started off this whole firestorm..  :)

I will say first that what I was originally looking for and what I found interesting about Mylaps.com are the lap-by-lap numbers, and not just the final positions and best times/final times. As a newbie racer it really has helped me to understand my competitiveness by seeing the true picture of a race and not just the final tallies.

Next, I know that I am unknown by this board and that I have just signed up with CCS, but I an a software engineer with 20 years experience. If you could send me an example of the raw results data from any old race, I could probably knock out something that would autogenerate a results page for you from that with no cut-n-pasting and no charge. But I am sure there are plenty of others on this board quite as capable of doing this as myself. I have my resume on http://www.jronmorgan.com if you are interested.  BTW. after riding bikes for 38 years, I just started track days last year and racing this year, damn but its a BLAST!  I really wish I woulda started younger.
