Preregistration - Is this the norm ???

I preregistered for BHF way back on May 2nd.  I heard rumors that the online system may or not work correctly so I call CCS to confirm.  Talked to Tiff and she says the reg did not go through and that I should do this again.  So once again I register online and for the last 3 days I cant get anyone at CCS to confirm if it has worked correctly this time or if they will grid me in the correct position since I did actually register back May 2nd, not May 18 or 19th when they get this figured out...

My question is this... is this the norm for preregistration procedures ?  Do I need to make 4+ phone calls to CCS to make sure a simple reg form went through correctly ?  I mean I got "Confirmation-1115042591" stating that everything was fine !!! ??? !!!.  What if I did not follow up on this and showed up to the event and was not preregistered.  I sink a lot of cash into this stuff it would be nice to have some sort of reliable system in place.

I am a total NOOB this year so I dont want to beat a dead horse here but what do you guys think ?  Guess I will call back again tomorrow when someone can help me get this figured out.   ???

Did you get an email confirmation?  If so, you print this off and bring it with you.  Don't forget it.  If you get to the race and they say they don't have your prereg than you give them that slip.  It has the date on it so at least your grids aren't screwed up.  If you credit card has already been billed, bring a copy of the bill, too.

Good luck!

Not sure I have a good answer for you, but personally I've found it best to fax in my registration.  With the online, you get no confirmation, at least with the fax I can take my original entry with me, along with my confirmation that it went through, to the track with me in case there are any issues.

I hate the online system because you get absolutely no confirmation that anything actually happened.

When contacting Tiff, I've personally found that being patient and polite will generally do the trick.  I think she's the only person in all of CCS that handles this stuff and is probably overwhelmed with requests every day.

what email confirmation are you talking about ?
does it tell you what you registerd for? or when?

I get a email back that says nothing.

It has a date on it--for your grids.  When Stumpy's registration was "lost" last year, I just had to show that email with the date so his grids would be correct.  And they were.

I would be nice if the emails listed what you bought.  I faxed this year, though, and didn't like that I only have my own confirmation--which has no value whatsoever.

This is the email I got back.  Nothing that says the amount paid, or what races I have actually registered for.  Anyway, thanks for the advice... I guess I will start faxing in my reg and taking a copy of that correspondence with me to the events.

Yep, that's how it works....

A listing of what races you selected would be nice!

I think all that system really does is send an email to someone.  I doubt there is a "real" database behind all that.  If your email is lost, I think you can pretty much forget about ever getting registered.

be very careful with the email confirmations.  i thought i was preregistered along with a friend for the last summit race.  a week before i went down and was unable to attend so i called to make sure i could cancel....well turns out....my "CONFIRMED" pre registration did not go through because it was too late.  Too bad i was never notified.  I want to pre register for the memorial weekend race......but i dont want to deal with the BS that goes along with it so i'll deal with a shitty grid position.

Faxing it is what I have ALWAYS done, it's only bit me once....

I have mostly pre-registered and have had no difficulty at any time, but this is the SW Region and things just seem to be better out here! ;)

OHHHH....while where at it....

I have a rant that I need to get off my chest.  One of my fellow pit members went to the Tech area to get some Contingency stickers, he was greeted with a big huge "HEY THOSE ARE FOR RACERS ONLY!".  This particular person is a racer and it is his first year, he was sort of suprised at his RUDE response and replied with a sheepish "um...sir...I am a racer", the CCS official then went on a rant about how we are a pain in his A$$.  While this was going on a another shocked racer barked up and said "HEY!  Yo guys should be happy we're even out here...chill out"  The CCS Official's response was "yea right!".   :o

This first weekend racer was left with a crap impression of CCS...  I'm going to my first CRA event this weekend, I haven't even showed up yet and it seems like my business is more appreciated than it has at CCS in the 1 1/2 years I have raced with them.  They are planning a BBQ for the racers and club workers, the people have been very friendly, and the racers have NOTHING but nice things to say about the org as a whole.  What gives?

ok rant over I feel better, sorry guys.  I do like CCS I just felt bad for this first time racer who felt like he was putting someone out over some stickers.

I know I faxed my Registration to Tiff and it took about 10 days for the charge to show up on my Card. I would just assume she was busy and it took her a few days to get it done.  :)

I can tell you I sent her an E-Mail and she called me back in about 30 Mins and helped me fill out the form for the 1st time. Was very helpful. I would assume they just take them off the Fax machine and put them in a "to be processed" box and do them as they have time, hopefully in order of fax  ;D
