Does anyone have an update on Julian?

I have not heard anything as of yet.... I am awaiting word myself. Hope all is good.

Please tell me you won't try to explain gridding in Row 6 by saying,
"Uh, I forgot what row I was in because all I could concentrate on was how Julian was doing!"
:ahhh:
i talked to tom michels' wife this miorning, Julian went home last night, clear headed and straight eyed, memory intact. he has a broken collarbone so will be out of racing for a little while, but you know how fast those kids heal.

Glad it's only a collarbone. Anyone know Dora's condition by the way?
She is home as well. I believe a "Slightly Punchured" lung and very sore. Glad to here Julian is doing ok. He shared my EZ-UP in the pits. He's one hell of a nice guy.
Oops, I spelled punctured wrong
Messy weekend.
Where did Julian fall over?

Wasnt a good sunday for Buells.
BTW has anyone heard how expert #88 is?
No. I 've been watching the boards hoping his friends might post or something.

Wasn't a good day for warmup lap crashes either!
88 Ex?
As in Nate?
I'm getting the impression, it was a messy weekend... :wtf:

Yeah. Warm up accident. Bike was ugly.
You got a quick link to the bone stuff for Julian?
Saturday was a very smooth day. Sunday for some reason had its share of red flags. At least no helicopter flights though.
I'll second the comment that Julian is a good guy. I owe him for lending me his brand new spare belt so I could still race on Sunday after I tore up mine in practice.
Hope he's up and at 'em quick!
Yeah Christian it wasnt. Nates bike is toast. The wheel was in teh headers and the frame is cracked near the neck. We had to use a bar put through the front wheel to get it on the trailer. I shuddered when I heard the infamous "Crash in 2" call. Ya know its not gonna be good. Just hope its nothing major.
Bob (Buell guy I usually pit next to) went down in 4 and an amateur happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Both ended up in the med shed (they are ok), no sooner than I dropped the last of those two bikes off, someone went down in 7 and needed medical. Dropped that off and another one in 1 went down (he rode the trailer back though). Pretty much had most the Buells on the trailer for something with exception for Mark's. I think his was the only ones that didnt have an issue all weekend.
Then later in the day sunday, Jeff decided to see how his Honda would look in the weeds at T7.

Nope I have no good excuse, Ijust plain screwed it up 6B was my grid for the supertwins race. I guess this is gonna take a while for everyone to forget. To top it all off I didn't leave with the experts. I got back on the track after the stop and go in about fifth. Ended up second!!!

No, it was the bus stop (3A). Anyone know who the other rider was?
Guy
I stopped by Julian's place tonight to drop off his bike and trailer. He's fine. Banged up, but fine. Broken collar bone. Black eye. But otherwise serviceable.
Dora went to the Doc today in Milwaukee for another round of X-rays, CT scans. Broken ribs. Punctured lung. She's more sore today than yesterday.
Both bikes seem to be in better shape than the riders.

Glad to hear that everyone is going to be OK (not sure about Nate).

Sorry to hear Julian had a bit of bad luck. I met him and raced against him at MAM a few weeks bike..... Very nice guy. Hope your recovery is speedy!
Heal up Julian, it has been good having you back at the track and hope to see you there again before the end of the season!
Julian is a very nice guy. Heal fast!
Is it me, or are more guys starting to race from pit-out to the starting grid? I know that being extra-aggressive on the warm-up is a mind fuck for some, but geez... crashing on the warm-up is kind of lame.
Seems like speeds between the hot pit and T1 are way, way up.
I agree. Zero reason for a crash on the warmup lap unless it's some kind of mechanical. To have at least 3 of these on the same day is pretty sad. If the trend continues, this will need to be addressed in a way that we probably won't like.
Some seem to really zip past those that have already reached their grid spots too. No reason to strafe the 2nd wave at high speed when there's plenty of time before the flag drops. It would probably make sense to send the 1st wave out for the warmup first to keep things orderly. As an AM, I tend to hang back on the staging lane a bit to make sure any Experts who want to get out in front of me for the warmup can do so. I'd rather do that than feel like a rolling pylon on the warmup lap. I usually run about a 80% pace on the warmup if I've got clear track ahead, less if I'm stuck in traffic. I'll generally not pass on a warmup lap unless someones really pokey.

I wasn't issue free my friend. The bike wouldnt fire Sunday morn. Had a bad timing sensor. I missed practice because of it. Had some maping and suspention issues. But.... I did manage to get within 2 tenths of a second of my fastes lap time from the tube frame from last year. All in all a really good weekend. I am very pleased with the new bike!

So any word on Nate D.???? expert#88
Hey Guy, sorry to hear about Jullian he was really a good guy, I hope he gets back soon. But anyway, I was also wondering if you knew what happened to the fast amatuer at Blackhawk, not the past weekend the one prior. I think he won most of our races, and in the last race i ended up second behin Tim Lipurinni because he crashed. Is he ok? When I went by he didnt look so hot (no movement). Anyway thanks.
Ben Probst.
You're probably thinking about Mike Riebe. He crashed in LW GP at the May Blackhawk and messed up his leg (knee?).
I think there may be a lesson to be learned there about wearing old, thin, worn leathers.

That was Mike Rebie (AKA Yellow plated sand bagger). He was not there because of buisness obligations. Rosno told me that the injury was a deep fleash wound from a foot peg. The area did get infected, but has cleared up.
Where were you?

I measured Mike up for a custom Vanson suit a number of weeks ago. He was wearing what he had in the mean time.
Glad to hear he's ok. And if they don't give him a white plate, we'll have to come up with a YPSB to put on his leathers !
Folks,
Thanks for all the kind words - I'm doing OK. Broken collarbone, a few bruised ribs and a black eye, but overall I'm fine. I'll be back sometime later this season or next. Until then, ride fast, ride safe, and try to give the other guy a little space. See you at the track and thanks again for everyone's concern. Keep the shiny side up.

Julian,
Try the bone growing stuff out. Rosno turned me on to it when I broke my collarbone. It works great!!! The bone attatched in about 12 days. My doctor was very impressed with the speed and the manner in which the bone healed. I started using it in 3 weeks, racing in 4 weeks. The chemical name of the active ingredient is Microcrystilinehydroxapatite (sp?). I bought some off of the internet, but I think it can be purchased at most drug stores.
Do you know who the other party was? I thought I might have seen Gerald Lehmann on the ground with you, but I am not sure? If so, is he OK?

Mike Riebe was an expert in 2002. If I remember right, he was running expert #6 in 2003 (Silver SV, Visionsports as a sponsor) ....... :wtf:

He didn't want to be an amatuer again. Didn't hold his Expert license for the three years he was out. Thus yellow plates this year....Mike's a cool ass guy too!

Mike was real helpful to me too last month at my first race weekend ever.

No doubt, Mike and I are good friends. I am just busting his chops. I hope to be able to ride with him more and learn some stuff. He is be an excellent yard stick to see how I might stack up to the other experts. The way things are going now I'll probibly have white plates next year.

Just got off the phone with Nate Doebert (#88) expert.
He has yet to see his bike, so he wasn't too thrilled to hear about the cracked frame!
He has a bruised lung, broken scapula, and a few broken ribs. He got out of the hospital Monday evening and is recovering at home.

Guy, I had some other stuff going on, work and what not. Not to mention that whole money thing. But we are leaving tomorrow for topeka. Are you going to be racing this weekend? And about that whole expert downgrade thing, My uncle hasnt raced since 1996 and 150 pounds ago, but they wouldnt let him downgrade to am., needless to say he had a rough time at road america. Im not saying this to argue about Mike, I dont know Mike though im sure he is a great guy, Im just commenting that this rule apparently isnt stead fast.

I am not going to Topeka, not enough cash. I think who you are dealing with at CCS to get the down grade could effect what the results are. I don't care one way or the other. Mike did what he felt was right for his situation. I really was just jerking Mike's chain, I did not mean to start anther fourm contraversy.

Julian,
Hope you heal quick. I raced with you during the '04 season (gray/white SV650 #91) and it was always clean and fun. I was bummed that John Fox got hurt that year as you two were pulling me along faster!
Here's to a speedy and full recovery.
