Hey all,

I'm contemplating the sportbiketracktime.com event the weekend of April 16/17 at Moroso.  Does anyone have experience at their events?  Is it a school?  Is it track time?  Is it well-run?  Is it worthwhile?  Thanks,

Nate

Nate,

I've only done Sportbike Tracktime and Trackaholics.  I prefer Sportbike Track Time.  Well run org.  I can't speak about any others.  I've probably done about 50 track days with Sportbike Track Time. 1 with Trackaholics.  None with anyone else.  I've yet to hear anything bad about any track day orgs. in regards to their overall operation.

I work as a track coach for STT.  Monte and Bonnie are awesome people!  The events are very well organized, and run flawlwssly.  Expect to ride 20 minutes per hour from 8 am to 5 pm, with an hour off for lunch.  Lunch will be catered, and is usually very good.
Three groups, Novice, Intermediate and Advanced.
Novice: Track day beginners in 5 groups, sorted by speed and experience.  All five groups share a session.  Groups escorted by coaches.
Intermediate:  Quick track day guys and amateur racers.  6 foot passing rule in effect.  Prowling coaches to make sure nobody rides like an idiot.
Advanced:  Really effin fast track day guys and expert racers.  Safety wire and belly pans required.  Track coaches blow off steam in this session.  No paint trading or running people off the road allowed, otherwise keep it safe and have fun.
Sustained wheelies severely frowned upon in all groups.  Keep it up, you're out the door.

Coaching available at all levels.

Hope this helps!  Have fun!
The frame was snapped, the #3 rod was dangling from a hole in the cases, and what was left had been consumed by fire.  I said, "Hey, we've got all night!"

Chris -- sounds perfect.  Thanks to all for the info.

So . . . anyone going to be there on Saturday?

Nate,

You can't really believe everything K3 wrote. :o

So allow me to interpret and give the real 411 about STT ;)

QuoteMonte and Bonnie are awesome people!  The events are very well organized, and run flawlwssly.

As you can clearly see, Chris should have written "flawlessly"    :-X Kinda makes you wonder about his veracity don't it?  :P

Aha!  Caught him again.  Oops my bad.  He's right about that.  In fact the Novice, or "school" group is split up by riders with like skills and offers excellent instruction (based upon the principles in TOTW2, it seems) for folks new to the track.

To tell you the truth, if you haven't already noticed, I'm just using your thread to give ole K3 some grief.  Between what he wrote and reading the stuff at the STT website (noted above) you'll have a brilliant time.

As a recent noobie (but still slow) rider, I give STT the H-man seal of endorsement. 8)

Be sure to post your experience at the track so we can share in your fun.

Hey Nate, I'm never run with SBTT before but from what I hear they run a great program. If I don't do the Barber WERA event I'll be at Moroso. Hope to see you out there again. BTW have you come to your senses and switched to Pirelli's yet  ;D JK

Fat_Nate

Dan,

I hope to see you AND your WONDERFUL Pirelli tires at Morosso!  Good thing I haven't sewn the Dunlop patch on my leathers yet.

we ride with them about 15 days a year. the southern events are run by mark sheldon this year and he is awesome. much better than monte... of course the only time i met monte was at barber in march so i really dont have any basis for this statement other than we really like mark and lois so monte and bonnie would have to be pretty good to even come close to filling those shoes. we will find out more since we are riding at mid- ohio in a few weeks. go and have fun.
