On my walk with the dog this morning I was thinking:

The birds are hangin' out (cardinals, chickadees, red winged blackbirds and blue jays), the deer are moving around, the wind is from the south, the sun is shining and it's above 55 degrees. We are due for a thunderstorm that will never materialize, constuction is in full swing and the bikes are out in force. :D

And oh yeah, to put a damper on this whole thing, Roger called at lunch with this news:

In the local paper: some idiot went and got himself killed on a sportbike last night in Racine county. 11 yr old kid riding passenger is at Froedert Hospital. >:(

Yup, it's spring, the good and the bad.

Two killed in Paris accident
By Journal Times staff

TOWN OF PARIS - Two men were killed and a child was critically injured following a high-speed collision at about 7 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Highway 45 and Ninth Street.

According to the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department, four motorcyclists were heading south on Highway 45 from Union Grove at a high rate of speed when they came upon another southbound vehicle. Three of the motorcyclists successfully passed the vehicle, but the fourth struck a northbound vehicle head-on.

The operator of the motorcycle, a 41-year-old man, and the driver of the northbound vehicle, a 65-year-old man, were killed in the crash. The motorcyclist's passenger, a 11-year-old boy, was taken to Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital in Wauwatosa with life-threatening injuries. The boy was wearing a helmet.

The three motorcyclists that passed the vehicle fled the scene; police are seeking them. Names of people involved were not made available, pending family notification.

The accident occurred about three miles south of Union Grove.
