Middleweight supersport has traditionally been the class where the future stars come from.  It (theoretically) shows who has the most talent because the bikes are "equal".  Well, I have to say, after racing in that class as my primary class forever, it needs to change.  To put a competitive bike out in supersport really costs more than in superbike.  Granted you can't change wheels, but to get power from a superbike you can do all the big motor stuff : bore, cams, pistons, crank.  To get a power increase in supersport you really are forced to get nit picky (read: expensive).  CCS needs to implement a stock class.  Change controls, bodywork, instruments, tires, and suspension.  Do not allow 25 mm cartridges or replacement cartridges at all, just a piston swap and revalve.  No cam timing, no head milling, no valve job, no nothing inside the motor.  This would make the initial investment much lower and allow the new riders to focus on riding rather than their bikes.
I love to tweak a bike, but in hindsight I should have been racing a superbike all along.  The needs to be a much clearer line between a "supersport" bike and a superbike.

Huh? A superbike cost a lot more than any supersport bike ever will. Look at the Honda Formula Extreme bikes!  There are a lot more changes that you can do than engine mods.

As an example, here are some things you can change on a superbike that cannot be touched on a SS machine, with some estimated pricing on the top of the line products:

Brake Calipers ~$2,000.00
Mag Wheels: ~$1,800.00
Full blown superbike engine ~$10,000.00 +
Factory Swingarm: ~$5,000.00
Aftermarket Superbike Forks: ~$6,000.00 +
Triple Trees: $1,500.00
Close Ratio Transmission: ~$3,000.00
Radiator: $1,800.00 +

There are lots of other little things that can add up very quickly as well: Kit wiring harness, high volume fuel pumps, etc. I mean, if someone wants to go out and spend lots of money on a superbike, the opportunity is there for it.
