How many events to enter?

Well,

The obvious answer is: As many as you can afford.

However, I'm more interested in finding out what is considered to be normal or average.  Not sure if CCS' database is adequate enough to be able to report something like this, but I'll try to define my query as best I can:

How many events (race weekends) does your average, amateur, privateer enter?

Looking at the FL calendar it looks like there are 12 race days scheduled for this year and I would guess it runs about $700/weekend to do this (I believe this number is fair though it may be less for some, and maybe ahigher for others like myself - and this assuming you dont crash of course).

At this rate you're looking at $8,000-$11,000 for a full year for most racers.  Maybe most racers can afford this and I guess this is what I'm trying to figure out.  I certainly cannot and I'm looking at probably only racing 3-5 events this year if I can swing it.

Yes, I'm very very new to all of this.  The last two Homestead events 04 and 05 were my first two races.  I feel I'm doing exceptionally well (all things considered) and would like to get out more but I don't have enough experience to be able to approach anyone about sponsorships of any kind, and I'm not making Top 5 yet in order to get any contingency.

Just curious, I know most of us out there are struggling and making sacrifices to be there.

Average?

I think it used to be somewhere near four, but might be a little below three now.
