Knowing that you gave your dog a wonderful life.

 :'(    :'(   :'(    :'(

Sorry....

I have to make the call today to have Timber put down.  At 15-1/2 years old, his body is starting to shut down and the dog is too darn bullheaded to just go to sleep.

Gotta go....   :'(

I'm sorry, Dawn.

I'm sure Timber was a good dog.  They always are.

Aw man...I hate that sh1t. Ain't that always the way? Our last cat made it past 19 years. We were hoping he would go the same way, but no can do.

It's never easy. My condolences. :'(

Do or do not, there is no "try".

I'm so sorry Dawn. He gave you a good life too. :) I still have the dish, collar, and leash from my childhood Irish Setter, Kelly. She had to be put to sleep after 14 years. Never easy, but better for them. Good luck.

Heartfelt condolences to you and your family, Dawn.

Dawn, I'll most likely be going through the same thing with Flannel later this year.

First, put your left hand on your right shoulder,
Put your right hand on your left shoulder,
Close your eyes and squeeze.
That's a big hug from me.

Then, go hug Renee and Paul for me.

I'm so sorry.

See you soon.
CCS AM 815... or was that 158?

Thanks everyone....  I'm a bit better now.  Let me tell you about Timber.

Timber was a neighbor's dog who lived one a chain and got beat with a shovel when he got in a fight with the house dog (some people are just stupid   >:( ).  He was one of the most beautiful Husky/Wolf crosses I've ever seen.  It took us about a week to convince them to give Timber to us.  He was 4 years old at the time.

We brought him home and put him in the chain link dog run that we had behind the house with our other husky, Tasha.  Not until we got Timber did I realized that dogs can climb a chain link fence.  The poor chickens, they never had a chance.  The dogs didn't eat for four days....  after all they ate 15 chickens.   :o

Timber turned into the most loving and caring dog.  I remember one day I was going to give Renee a spanking for something she did (I can't remember what it was, but I was really upset).  I took one step towards Renee and there was Timber, looking at me and growling....  I never worried about Renee being outside again with Timber.  In fact, there was one day that a coon was in his dog house and Renee was about to grab the dish, Timber put himself between her and the coon and ended up getting bit himself.

As I was watching him outside this morning, looking at him....  I almost didn't want to go through with it.  He saw me and wagged his tail, but after he stopped looking at the house, I could see that he was in great pain just standing there.  Renee and I were with him when he went to heaven and the look of peace on his face let me know that we did the right thing.

Love ya all,

Dawn

Dawn, condolances to you and your family.  I have an almost 15 year old dobie/lab mix I got from the pound when he was 6 weeks old.  He's been the best friend to us and grew up with my daugther.  She was 4 when we got him and shes moved out now.  His hips are gone and he's on pain medication.  I keep looking at him knowing the decision has to be made soon. I hope I'm as strong as you.

QuoteMarty will be lonely? :'(

You mean the tough dog that sleeps under the covers with Paul and I?    ;D

I don't think so.
