I tell ya Dan, you do make a road trip sound enticing.  Seriously.

Would Jason be one of the folks in your crew?  I'd love to see some of the faster Michigan guys (Nathan Dressman, Etter, etc) in FUSA competition.

Anyway, I have my plans all mapped out already.  Track days, family trips, races, HSTA road adventures.  My time off from work and budget is nearly all spoken for.

QuoteHey H!

Yeah, Dan should have plenty of room.  After all, he only packs about 5 gal. of race fuel for a weekend for two riders and no spare parts!  Not to mention the imaginary race bikes, they don't take up much room either! ;D

 >:(  It wasn't ONLY 5 gallons.  The bike was full when we got there ;) :P     Imaginary bikes huh....
As far as spare parts are concerned, in my defense I must say:

1. I am a mechaincal cluster f###, so even if I had the parts, I couldn't fix it anyways.

2. Do you know how much parts cost for Italian twins?  I'm not sitting on parts I hopefully will never use.

 ;)

On some trips Etter may come, but usually it's not likely out of state. Remember, he just opened a dealership so I doubt he'll have time to spend alot of time driving just to race.  He'll probably be at Grattan though.
Our road trips are always a blast  :D  We always have enough people to make it fun, and cheap.  If you think about it, 4 or 5 guys in one room, split the bill, and it's about $10.00 a person, and then we have shower, breakfast, ect. without the headaches of camping.  Not to mention the bar in the hotel ;) Then, we spilt all expenses, and responsibilites, so it's a pretty good thing.  One guy supplies the truck and trailer, and the rest of the people pay for gas.  :) Let's just say for arguements sake:

$10.00 per person for the room.
$20.00 per person for the vehicle gas.
$20.00 per person for alcohol.

So, for $50.00 + tires + bike gas + entry fee's everything is covered.  You have a bed, shower, ect., and alcohol for the weekend  :D  Other than entry fee's and race fuel, $50.00 isn't much.  Especially since more than likely it costs more to go alone.  :-/

and we have a "crash rule." Not that anyone else wouldn't have one also, but..

In the event you crash and go to the hospital, we'll take care of all your stuff and meet you at the hospital until your family gets there.  Then, we'll get all your equipment back to your place for you.

Believe it or not, I've seen people ride together, and leave equipment at the track and let "his family" take care of it.

Uhhh, dude.  I know how a road trip works.  I understand the finances of them (remember it isn't me who has a tough time with managerial accounting and cost decisions.  Sorry unfair reference to a past thread).

Anyway, it's the idea of traveling in a motorhome.  Able to stretch out, watch videos....hmmmm....

Say, Heather, Stumpy, K3 any of you guys have room for another ;)

In the event you crash and go to the hospital, we'll take of all your stuff and auction it on eBay.  Then, we'll say it was all those other rat basT@rds at the track who must've hosed you.

Believe it or not, I've seen people leave equipment at the track and let me take care of it.

Hmmm... you've a strange way about you Dan.  Maybe you should seek professional help with this. ;D

Who'd want a piece of crap F2  ???

It's all the other stuff that'd be so worth while.  Besides, if the price is right, who wouldn't want it?

Which reminds me.  PLEASE enter Thunderbike at Gingerman this year.  You got nothing to worry about from me.  I'm on a "crap F2" and you're turning under 1:35 at Grattan.

Uhm... Nope, not me.   Free, maybe, but then again, it takes up floorspace in the garage. LOL

Maybe, we'll see

I don't believe it.  In six seasons, I've never seen someone go to the hospital and have his stuff abandoned, either at a race or at a track day.  The standard is that his friends (or neighbors if he's new and came alone) pack his gear, load his bike, and wait to see if he returns.  Generally, there will be a bunch of people helping to load the gear.  If the weekend ends, the injured rider's rig is usually towed to a place of safety arranged with the track owner, or if the rider has people who know where he lives, they might take the rig home for him.
No one ever had to make any kind of rule or pact about this.  It's the way things have always been.

I've always wondered what it would take to break this bond of brotherhood.  Perhaps if some loud talking liar showed up after spending a year pissing everyone off in advance, and then displayed his considerable lack of talent in the process of getting himself hurt, the other racers in the pits might adopt the attitude that such a person had worn out his welcome, and didn't deserve help.  A guy like that should bring his own friends from home, and he should get their promise for help in writing....
The frame was snapped, the #3 rod was dangling from a hole in the cases, and what was left had been consumed by fire.  I said, "Hey, we've got all night!"

 :o ;)
Bet your life it would be a toll bridge! >:(

The guy this happened to was riding a Triumph 955i. He crashed hard and went to the hospital.  Nobody knew him other than the people he came with.  The 2 other guys he was with were still there, and we overheard them talking about it.  They didn't want to take the bike because it was destroyed.  They pretty much said there was not anything left of the bike, so if he wanted it, he could come get it later.  They actually left the bike, and the next day someone else came and got it.
