HI Ray!

Is SW running "EAST" on the weekend? Still don't have any info on the event schedule.
How are you guys doing?

East track it is Steve.... TEAM Arizona is also hosting a trackday on 20 Feb., East track as well. Probably a tough trek for the travelers, but then- getting a Friday off around here to go play is difficult too.... :-/

Ed

......count me as an "also ran!"

RAY_HYMER

Hey, Steve!!  Yes, the March race is at Firebird East.  Team AZ has the Feb track day at the East track, so all of us locals get some nice practice!!  ;D
We have been busy getting our bikes ready for the new season.  Steven is updating from the 2000 SV650 to the 03 SV650, so he should be a big factor in all of the LW classes.  I have been doing track days with my SV650 instead of the GSXR1000.  It seems that whenever I use the GSXR, I always try to go out and win track day instead of working on my body positioning. :-/
I am making progress with my positioning, but still haven't got my knee down yet.  I'm also going to be doing track days at Willow every month until June.  I will be charting my progress, and if I can get my lap time under 1:30 by then, I will try to qualify for the Toyota Cup race!   :o
Steven and I were supposed to be working out, dieting, and getting in shape and ripped, but somewhere between Turkey day and XMas, we got derailed, and now we are both as fat as ever (maybe even fatter!!).  I tipped the scales at 283 the other day! Steven came in at a trim 276.  JEEZ!  :-[
I'm looking forward to our LW battles.  It should be a fun year.

Ray, I would like to attend some of the trackdays at Willow Springs in the next few months...
Can we coordinate resources? ;)

RAY_HYMER

Just give me a call, Tom.  Or you can just talk to me next weekend when we go to Roger's awesome Jimmy Moore school at Arroyo Seco.

L8brake731

Ray-
I'll be out at Firebird on the 19th! Maybe I'll hang out for one more day.
Email me and we can hammer out the details.

If you are going to stay for the 20th track day, be sure to reserve your spot by calling Team AZ right away.  They limit the group sizes, and usually sell out fast.  The SV is fun to use in the intermediate group, but isn't so much fun in the racer group.  Although, if you have a 600, you will want to be in the racer group.

Dang...I better do that.  Planning on the racer group, but I'll be slow on the 600.

See you guys in school next weekend!   ;D

Elaine:
You have a 600? HHhhmmm, I better get my stuff together and build one. I know Dave is waiting. ;D

QuoteElaine:

Yeah, Zac and I switched bikes.  I'll be on the R6 this season, and he'll be on the TZ250.  I'll still ride the MZ and he'll still be on the CR500 motard for the LW classes.  So Zac is an all 2-stroke guy this season.

I'm starting to get used to the thing.  From the Dec track day at Arroyo.   ;D

Hmmm...now I'm thinking instead of the Feb 20 date we'll do the March 4 date.  Frees up a weekend, and we'll get a good pit spot on Fri for the weekend.

L8brake731

Hey Elaine-
Do you think that Zac would like to race an SV in trade for a TZ some time... ;D

Hey Steve - I've taken a spin on one of those SV things before, it seemed kinda slow  ;D.

Seriously, if you want to take the TZ out sometime let me know.  Part of the "GP bike conversion campaign".  The first ride's free  ;)

Guess I didn't follow that campaign.  4-strokes all the way for me.   ;)

Ray, what trackdays at WSIR?  The WSMC Fridays or Saturdays?  That's the least expensive way to do it.  Heck, if you've got a WSMC license you can do Saturday for $70 (Friday is $100 I think).  Lots of people get licenses just to do that.  I go to all of the race weekends there (Fri-Sun).

-Brian

RAY_HYMER

I bought the "bro deal" with Trackdaz.  8 Big Track days for $800.  I think I will look into your info about the WSMC race weekends practices.
It looks like I am going to miss tomorrow's track day.  Never lend your trailer out when you are going to need it the next day!!!  My truck's transmission died, and I needed to use the trailer instead.  Oh, well! :(

L8brake731

WSIR will have a TRACK DAY hosted by MTC (Motorcycle Training Center) on 03-23, 03-24. On 03-23, it will be on the "Streets" and 03-24, it will be on the "BIG" track.
We run 2 groups, 20 mins. on
The prices are $ 115.00 for "Streets" and $125.00 for the "BIG" track.
Track Days are every month with the exception of August (hot) and January and February (cold)
We book quick so, go to this link and read all the info given!

Yeah....I get to be schooled by both Steve and Elaine.  :-/

C'mon Steve, you know if you sold the Beemer and got an Escort you could build one mean 600.  ;D

Tic Tock.........

 :D

Roger@ASMA

I'll be there on the 4th in the am. Looking forward to seeing everyone and also letting people know what to expect when the come to ASR. I'll be there in the am but have to be home on Saturday for an SCCA race here. I will be wearing a black ASMA jacket and a blue Arroyo Seco hat for anyone who would like to chat. Sorry, not bringing my bike this time, have to have room for a bunch of tires!

MZGirl

Cool!  See ya there, Rog!

I'll be spending the weekend trying not to visit the pavement.  With a freshly painted R6 and new leathers, it will be tough.   :o

Not to mention that it's predicted to be raining.

MZGirl

QuoteNot to mention that it's predicted to be raining.

Gah!  It's rained the past 3 times in a row for Zac and I at the track (Nov ASMA races, Dec ASMA banquet, Feb Jimmy school).  I want a dry weekend!  Not to mention it's rained the past 2 season in a row at the Firebird East opener.   >:( The weather I've been watching shows sunny.   ;D

RAY_HYMER

Sunday (24 hours): Few showers. Highs in the low 70s and lows in the low 50s.   :(

MZGirl

It's only Tuesday.  I'll start to worry when it's Friday.

Zac

Hey, I'm pretty fast in the rain...

Until I fall  :-X

Anyone have a spare Michelin Race H2- 150/60/17 they'd be interested in selling? Not sure how the one I have mounted will hold up after Friday/Saturday trackdays and would like to have it in the event it rains on Sunday. The local vendor wasn't able to get one for me, so I was planning on running slicks Sunday..... but with the potential of rain..... :o

Thanks!

Zac

I think I have a seriously shagged 150 pirelli SC2 DOT lying around I'd give you for free.

-z.

Al_Soran

Thanks for the offer Zac....

I'll keep an eye on the sky and the H2 currently on the bike to see if it exceeds "seriously shagged". If it does, I'll look you up. Hell, I'll look you guys up anyway...it'd be nice to meet some of the others running the lightweights/ultralightweights.

Regards...
