I received the invitation for my 20th high school reunion (I graduated at a very young age  ;)).

Now the question is - - do I go?

Of COURSE you go!  Here are your objectives:

1--Find that high school crush/boyfriend and either a-count how few hairs he has left on his head or b-measure his comb over or c-both.  Do this while he's trying to impress you with his I'm fixing up a '78 Chivelle" (sp?) story.

2--Take a look at the 'popular' group.  Between them, count divorces, indictments and illegitimate children.  The number is higher than their IQs.

3--Ah, the cheerleaders/jocks.  See step 2.

4--Now, remember all those kids everyone made fun of?  Now they're the hottest and most successful.  Man, if we only knew then what we know now...

Rhiannon was unofficially voted "least likely to succeed", and believe it or not...her 10th HS reunion is coming up in 2006.  Let's see...Professional roadracer, She'll have 8 yrs of military under her belt and a decorated war vet, been to many European countries and exotic locals, counts World and National racing champions as her personal friends. Oh yeah, and she's starting a modeling career to boot.

Yeah...she'll be going to her reunion.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Me...I hated high school and no one I went to high school with has done much with themselves. How do I know? They don't roadrace. They don't motocroos, supercross, flat track or supermoto. 'Nuff said.   :P ;) ;D

I'd go.  I'm going to mine if we ever have one.  Problem is, half of my class is either dead or in prison, so it may be a while.  And when I say half, I mean half, literally.  My graduating class was 19 people.  I know 4 of the 19 are dead from suicide or drugs.  Never really kept track of anyone though.   :-/

Ya know....  I knew all that stuff about the girl, but to me she's just my plain old friend Rhiannon.  It all sounds so much more important when you hear a mother's bragging. ;)
Really, racers are an exceptional bunch.  There just aren't any "average" people in the group.  It's not necessarily about brains or talent, but more about inner drive.  Is it any wonder that I find real people boring, and choose to hang out only with other racers?
High School reunions?  One of my very best friends is a guy I met in high school.  Hanging out with him is all the reunion I'll ever need.  I hated that prison, and couldn't wait to be parolled.  The one good thing about my High School was the liberary.  It was a Catholic school, so you can imagine that there was a 100 year collection of the best literature available in that awesome collection.  That's where I got my real schooling.
Needless to say, I will be dropping off a copy of my novel when it is finally published.... 8)
