Can someone explain to me the practical difference in potential fork mods:
1) springs, valving ($400?)
2) 20mm Ohlins/Penske kit ($700?)
3) 25mm Ohlins superbike internals ($1800?)

understanding that its all gotta be tuned by someone who knows what they're doing.

There are many different types of valving parts available from many different manufacturers.  Some of them use a different type of piston.  I assume for valving and springs for $400 you are referring to Race Tech internals which use high flow linear pistons.  Different companies can use different pistons such as VDP(velocity dependent), Linear, Digressive etc.  Ohlins 25mm superbike internals are complete cartridge set-ups including springs, and the top fork cap with a different adjuster.  If you have any questions give us a call at Lithium Motorsports(712)546-7747.

I'll call, but I'm just looking for the 101 on the cost-benefit of each.  I've never ridden a bike with the high-end internals, and I'd like to know from someone who has whether they  are worth it.

Are you racing, doing track days or street riding?  What bike are you riding?
