I'm helping out a friend.  Here's the story....He's got the "Smokin Joe" replica, the '96 I believe, anyway, he got hit while riding (he's fine) but the bike is not so good.  So far what I've descovered as far as damage is: Front forks totally bent, right fork has a hole where the front fender connecter tab usted to be,  front wheel is straight but both rotors bent, don't know about the triple tree yet, he's got replacement plastics.  Pretty much all damage in the front.  Thought you may be able to connect me with some parts?  Thanks to anyone else that may have anything also... ;)

I don't have any used parts for older bikes.  I try to stay as current as possible as that's where the highest margins are.

For used parts, check ebay and www.2wf.com

If you want new parts, check with Justin at LCPS (parts@lcpsports.com)

From the damage you state, the repair isn't going to be economically feasible unless he can get used parts.  New forks would be in the $1200 range unless they can be repaired.

The F2 and F3 were very similar.  If all that stuff is bent in front, more than likely, the triples will be too.

Had enough experience with F2's that I can tell you that.

Thanks!  He works for an insurance agency also so he may be able to get $$$ to replace stuff.  How much of a "colectors item" is it anyway?  Even worth it for him to fix?   :-/

It's just a cosmetic thing, the Smokin' Joe's model.

Not sure there is any huge collector things going on for it.  If there was, he shouldn't have been riding it.

Now that it's that old, Honda might not have those specific body panels anymore, really.  It was a US bike only.

Don't know much/anything about the F2 F3, are the forks pretty much swappable?  If I'm redoing the entire front should I be able to use any model year?

F3's has cartridge forks.  Only the '94 had cartridge forks on the F2's.

Brakes on the F3's were different, so the mounting and all is, potentially, different.

I think you'd need the F3 stuff, period.

Are they completely munched?

You can replace just the tubes, if that is all that is damaged.

The right tube is bent, the other part that the tube goes into (what's it called?) has a hole in it where there was a tab for the fender to mount to.   The left side is just bent.

Quote  The right tube is bent,

Might be replaceable all by itself...

Quotethe other part that the tube goes into (what's it called?) has a hole in it where there was a tab for the fender to mount to.

That's the fork "leg".  Internals might not need to be replaced.

Everything?  If you can find F3 forks complete, jump on 'em.

But dirt trackers were buying them up to put on dirt track bikes for a while.  So, the pipeline might be a little dried up.

Does anyone know how to tell the difference between an F2 motor and an F3? Visibly? Serial #?

The F3 motor has a speed sensor on the rear,  by the countershaft sprocket.
