In the MW we have the infamous 'Potato Head' award.  Since I haven't been to all the races this year, I'm a bit out of touch with those who would qualify for such an honor.

Who are some of the qualifiers this year?

Dawn   ;)

Well... (I cant believe I am telling this) On the grid at BHF, I think it was in Supertwins...  I decided to try and mess with my fellow racers heads so.. waiting for the second wave to start, I decided that I would do the Chicken dance on the grid. The first wave took off and our 2 board came up. I quit doing my little arm flap and butt wiggle, pulled in the clutch, reved the motor, the 1 board came up... green flag... I popped the clutch and give it the gas... and NOTHING! I sat there, why? I forgot to put the Buell in first gear. Bikes where just flying by me as I sat there all the while thinking.... Well, I cant say what I was thinking on this board, but it wasnt very nice. All directed at my self of course for being such a dumb azz. I think I cusssed in my helmet for 3 laps. I was just thankful no one decided to drive up my back! Does that qualify??  :-[  ;D

Okay, I'll bite.

On behalf of all us newbies (a much preferred term than "noobs" - which could be pronounced "knobs"), what are the criteria for the potato head award?

Ok, I'll share mine too then....

First one was at Topeka, not that big of a deal but I decided that one cool down lap wasn't enough...

Second at Blackhawk, wanting an awesome start, too high in the revs and pop the clutch=me on my back!   ;D

H-Man... Your wheel stand at your first race would qualify I think. LOL! I heard it was quite entertaining. I just wish I could have seen it but I was too busy trying to keep my lead in that race.

Last year's winner....

He was the only bike in the class, all he had to do is complete one lap to get first place.  He crashed on the first lap and was never scored for the race.

Bummer...! I dont think I qualify then! LOL

Did the person who was attending the Learning Curves school at BHF and went out onto the track BACKWARDS ever start racing?  That was definitely a winning moment...

The frame was snapped, the #3 rod was dangling from a hole in the cases, and what was left had been consumed by fire.  I said, "Hey, we've got all night!"

I'm riding my buddies twin (aprilia 1000) Sunday and some guys are in town, who wanna get some miles in, and I get nominated to take em out for a ride...

well...   I show a peice of the riding that I do...

The twin doesnt slow as much as the 4 (929)  when you cut the gas....
of course I've got a couple favorite turns....

well one turn is about 120, 130 or so.....

I cut the gas, dip it in.....
UH OH... this is faster than I planned.....
 :o

I end up with more lean angle and a very nice cherry on my knee
as I instinctively felt for the pavement.. in jeans...

YES, it left a mark!

Probably dont qualify, since it wasnt at an event, but since I've got you guys here to listen, thanks, I really needed to get that off my chest...
(and please, dont go tellin anyone...) ::)

You DEFINATELY deserve it. ;D ;D ;D

Only thing I did this year was try to do a tail whip on my F2 in turn 4 after hitting the curbing. :o ;D Then proceeded to fall off the bike.

Just a racing incident in my book. ;D

Chris and I were pitted next to each other and had a fun time at Gingerman last weekend.  He was a control rider at the STT weekend.  I believe Jack Beaudry (www.sliderphoto.com) and I have the honor of being the first to tour the new Maison d'Onwiler on wheels.   ;D

I brought the beer, Chef Chris grilled the polish sausages and a good time was had by all.  :)

H Man comes up to me at Gingerman, and says, "After Blackhawk, I thought you and Don were going to kill each other.  Now I see you guys jokin' and drinkin' beers together like old friends.  What gives?"
I replied, "That's racing...."
 :)
Ya gotta love happy endings!

No joke!  It's was just beautiful man:'(..... ;) ;D

I was both very impressed and a wee bit jealous.  I think I wanna have you do the ramming boat thing to me some time Don.

Well... on second thought....  Let's not and just say you did. ;) ;D 8)

Not to worry. That torpedo's sold.  ::)  I'm sticking with my regular ride.

Now, back on topic! There's gotta be a more worthy incident of such a prestigious award.

Post more boneheaded moves!  Rat out your buddies!  ;)

Ok. Here goes. It was at Road America. When I looked at the grid sheet, I noticed I was in the pole position of the LWF40 race.   So I write LWF40-inside-Row 1 on a piece of tape and put it on my gas tank. Go out do the warm up lap, come up to the starting line, rolling up through all the amateurs, through some experts, on my way to the front...... How come I'm passing guys on 600's and 750's? I stop in the middle of everyone and start looking around confused. The grid marshall comes over and shows me the grid sheet. LWF40-inside-Row 11. It was a 2 wave start. :-[ :-[ I just had enough time to back up to my spot. Got a good start then forgot to shift. Man, those SV's really slow down when they hit the rev limiter. It's funny how everything can fall apart so fast. ;D

cardzilla

Can I nominate Sebastian Porto?  I guess he thought everybody was just a really slow backmarker on that last lap, huh?  It looked like even after he realized he did an extra lap, he was still haulin' as*... too embarassed to slow down ;D  I won't elaborate in case someone hasn't seen it yet.

Ok guys so far so good but as some of you know I have this award and after what I did to get it you will have to come up with something really good. I haven't had much of a chance to get to the races but I have had a spy at most of them. I did get to see Rick Brewer go out for a mock race only to crash in turn 1 and say his back brakes locked up as this is why he crashed, as I can remember Rick telling me you don't need to use your back brakes, and this was on the warm up lap.
