Windscreen passing tech

Quick question.

Does my windscreen have to be completely intact in order to pass tech?  That is, would it fail it a part of it was pieced together with glue and packaging tape?

I know that I'd be allowed to finish a race with a damaged windscreen.  But what about starting a race with a repaired windscreen?

Probably not.

Just race without it.

Seriously?  A windscreen isn't a required part?

I seriously don't think you need it.  For instance, I've seen a Ducati Monster, and a few Buell's on the race track, and they didn't have windscreens  :-/  I can't see why you'd need it other than "aerodynamics."

When you're as slow as I am, every little reduction in wind resistance is a good thing ;)

Yes, last year, I raced with a broken windscreen for a few weekends.

No one seemed to have one available for new bikes.  And the number plate was part of the windscreen...so...

Nope not required.  I was helping Mike get his 750 finally ready to race and kept him from procrastinating any further by installing the screen, I was just like get it to tech already!!   ;D

Thanks to everyone for the feedback.

Super Dave, are you saying "yes" to the question that the windscreen is required to be completely intact (if one is pressent)?   If I apply your "yes" to either of my first 2 questions, then I'm a bit puzzled how you got past tech with a damaged/repaired windscreen.

remember bodywork is not required either as long as it has a catch pan and fluid retention. even on newer bikes.
