I am going to my first race this weekend at VIR and am joining the CCS ranks. Is there anything I should know before I get there so I don't have any suprises? Oh by the way my name is Steve and this is going to be my first race weekend ever so I am quite excited and nervous.

Gixxerblade

Sorry I just read the other post about being new so it looks like I'm not the only n00b out there this weekend. I'll be racing an SV650 but I am not sure what classes those are so any help would be appreciated.

Man, just ask ANYONE for help once you get there.  99% of us racers are very friendly and we know what it's like to be there.  ;D

GOOD LUCK!!!!

Thank you for the quick reply! I forgot to mention one thing though. I am bringing a pet. Does VIR allow pets at the track during a race event or is that a big no-no? BTW its a 3 year old monkey so at the very least you all will get to meet him!  ;D

Clay

A monkey?  Man, that outta be interesting!  But yes, I know they allow dogs at least.  You just have to keep them leashed at all times.

Gixxerblade

Bonus!!! I will keep him on a leash at all times. He won't go far anyway.

Good Luck,Steve a tip I can give you that I also gave to the other new guy John (hey it's late/early so forgive the copy and paste of my earlier reply  ;D), if possible go to the Friday practice, so you can feel comfortable with the track layout for the race weekend.  Get to the track early, don't forget enough gas!!!! Though one of your fellow racers will give you some if you forget. Registration on Sat. morning opens at 7am, be ready at 645am.. get thru registered quick and get your bike teched ..because before you know it you will be hearing 1st, 2nd and 3rd call for your first practice!!! Again, i wish you fun and a safe weekend, stop by and say hello. I am Dave, Amateur #696 (x) racing an 03 Kawi ZX6RR (the Green Goblin)..  White enclosed trailer with LONE WOLF RACING on the side door.... BTW seeing JJanisch race makes ya want to run out an race prep an SV650...     ;D :o  YAAAHHH!!!

Was as far as track layout is concerned I have been talking with a couple fellow racers as far as VIR's track layout. I have been there for a TPM trackday this year so I ain't skeered about that. I just hope I can get turns 3 thru 6 and 14 thru 17 figured out before I race. I got some ideas but its easier to talk about them.
