The guy that walked away was Kris.  He got up after he crashed and stood on the side of the track because he was afraid nobody would find him in the weeds.  It's amazing he was able to walk after that...  I'm setting up a PayPal account this morning and will post details.  As soon as I find out anything else about cost I'll let the appropriate people know.  Thanks again for your concern..

OK Sunny. Clears up which crash it was. I didnt see it. That area is not visible to turn 7's station where I suspect he went off.

Mike, Kevin and Marc, you need to call me. (847) 644-4495.  I'm gonna be heading through Rockford on Saturday and am planning on stopping at RMH to see how he's doing.

I was working in 5, so I had no visibility to what happened, other than hearing the call go out for an incident in T7.  Damn!  $)%*@#)%#@*%)#(*%$#.
CCS AM 815... or was that 158?

I just got back from the Hospital and am glad to say that Kris is in pretty good spirits. His injuries are very serious but recoverable. I met his parents and they seem pleased with the outcome of his surgery. They wanted me to tell everyone here to continue to keep Kris in our prayers. They did have him up for a short time this afternoon. So things are heading in the right direction. But its going to ba a long hard road.
Keep the well wishes comming.... Mark.

We arrived today during his first physical therapy stint. The whole time we were there he was sitting up in a chair and he managed to take it pretty well. The guy's a trooper!

He said, "Mike and Chuck sent me flowers. I don't know why they did that."   LOL   I think he and his parents were really touched by the flowers, calls, and outpouring of well-wishing by everyone.

His mom was so surprised by all the calls and from all over the place, and I think she really appreciated it, so feel free to call his room and talk to her. I think it really meant a lot to Kris and his parents.

He's got two very wonderful parents, another thing he is very lucky for, so he is in good hands. And, his Dad said that many people have told him that the spinal surgeon was one of the best in the country and how lucky Rockford is to have that surgeon there. Another good thing.

His mom tried hard not to show too much frustration with the ambulance guys at the track when she talked to us today, but apparently they were a little careless with him.  The doctor said that just the act of them taking his leathers off, with the twisting and contorting he had to do to get his leathers off, could have caused paralysis. And, yes, Kris walking away from the crash site could have caused it as well, so he is one hell of a lucky guy.

Kris's parents said he was expected to remain at Rockford Hospital for another 5 days. After that, he will be going to stay with his parents while he recovers.

Please continue to call and send your well wishes; it has been a big pick-me-up for Kris and his parents.

Unbelievable.  I'll be pulling for Kris big-time.  Hoping and praying for a full recovery.

Chris,

We sent you the flowers because we think you are "sweet". LOL Really, it was our second choice to help the mood in your room. We wanted to send a few umbrella girls to liven the mood, but we are too broke to afford them after an entire race season.
Keep working at getting better, we are pulling for you and can't wait to visit you when you get out.

We all race safely protected in the knowledge that something like this will never happen to us.
But then it does happen.
Thank God for corner workers, doctors, parents, friends, safety gear, the Wegman Fund....

Heal quick, Kris.  We're all pulling for you.

The frame was snapped, the #3 rod was dangling from a hole in the cases, and what was left had been consumed by fire.  I said, "Hey, we've got all night!"
