Next year Ford is requiring all employees to take a mandatory vacation around the time of this round, so you know where I'm going to be.  A drive would be nice on the way there, but not on the way back.  I'd rather fly and spend a week in the sun.

My 50th birthday gift from my wife last fall was a paid trip to Laguna Seca this summer for the AMA races that she saved up for out of her hard earned funds.  The summer got too busy with kids and racing and all, and I wasn't able to arrange it so I took a rain check for next year.  Now that's good timing!! ;D

"(Dorna is also hoping to return to the United States in 2005 but those plans have been complicated by another financial crisis and possible bankruptcy (though with debts of less that 5 million dollars) of the SCRAMP organization which promotes motor sport at the emblematic circuit of the Monterey Peninsula. Dorna has not yet announced firm plans to hold a USGP at Laguna Seca, but with RPM, the promoters of the Laguna Seca's World and National Superbike race, now in the process of taking over SCRAMP's debt (piddling by Jerez standards), the future of the summer classic at Laguna will soon be decided and the popular race will almost certainly continue either as a combined MotoGP-AMA world GP and national Superbike event, a combined World Superbike-AMA Superbike mix (as it has been from 1994 to the present) or even an AMA Superbike only race. The solid support from fans and the industry give the Laguna Seca date the basis for any one of these possible solutions, but RPM, seeing how both SCRAMP and now Jerez have both gone bankrupt, will seek to reduce fees and keep risk at a minimum. "

So this leaves the future of the proposed race still up in the air because as I see it SCRAMP has 2 rather large hurdles to overcome.

1. SCRAMP's 5 mil owed and possible bankruptcy
2. FIM's required track changes.

Dennis stated that RPM would take over SCRAMP's problems, but Dan Murphy of RPM states otherwise...

I would like to announce that RPM will not return to Laguna Seca to continue to promote either a World GP or a World Superbike race in 2005. SCRAMP, the track operator has decided it in their best interests to run the race without us."

Personally I'd wish it was at Road America, but remember things get changed rather quickly.
