QuoteI was told that they were working on completing the team challenge results and at that moment it took priority....

Credit where credit is due...

The individuals that actually do "hand scoring" are usually right on the money.

Buffy I attended ALL the riders meetings, and the
after the fact" solution did no one any good especially the TC participants that spent thousands on thier eventss. My issue concerns the lack of accurate and timely information given by CCS. I have no issue with the expert handling of crashes by the corner workers, they were top notch. The issue with most riders was the appearance that CCS was catering to the trackday schools by cutting our practice time, rescheduling races for the following day which further added to the disorganization and discontent, cutting the GTL race from 25 minutes, to 20 minutes then ultimately a 6 lap sprint race. Was there ever an instance whereby the @12 trackschool attendees were asked to sacrifice their track time for the "1200 entries" that CCS boasted on Friday morning?....I thought not. As for not have a school during a NAtional Event that is well and good but does nothing to rectify the lost monies spent. I feel the great sympathy for the sidecar teams that treked across the country from Califronia. Face it CCS dropped the ball BIGTIME .

And what is CCS going to do to make last weekend right with the many racers who feel that they were ripped off?....now, not in the future.

Refunds to the TC, discounted Racers Licences for 2005, discounted entry fees for upcoming events or how about a formal apology....

Dave Swarts wrote in RRW about the CCS bungling
of this event :
"....The overriding theme of the day, however, was disorganization, which led to only six of the eight scheduled races being run and only four of the races running to their scheduled distance.

The weekend was fouled up from the beginning, with professional racers arriving for Thursday promoter practice to be told that the practice day being run by Cornerspeed and the racetrack was full and that no more riders could enter. Friday practice was made more complicated by the inclusion of Learning Curves school sessions on track, between practice sessions, and the fact that Learning Curves sessions were given operational priority.

"We fell behind early and were never able to catch up," said CCS/F-USA boss Kevin Elliot.

In addition to the normal, unforeseen race-day delays caused by crashes and track clean-ups, the day was put behind schedule from the start by more racers (over 400) than the expected 250-275 showing up for the event, causing a shortage of electronic scoring transponders and scoring problems throughout the day as transponders were swapped from racer to racer.

As of 7:30 p.m. local time, official results were only available for two races.

The troubled day culminated with the Formula USA Team Challenge endurance race, which was scheduled for 250 kilometers, or 67 laps, but lasted all of 45 minutes and 30 laps.

Elliot said delays in the schedule and the track's 5:00 p.m. curfew forced him to shorten the Team Challenge race to 60 minutes, but race teams complained that they were not informed the race was shortened until after it had started and their race strategies had been put in play.

"We didn't get to go after it (the race) the way we wanted to," said Himmelsbach Racing's Michael Himmelsbach, who was slated to ride the third and anchor leg for his Championship-contending team but didn't get to ride at all. "This is the second time they made the decision to shorten this race without letting us know.

"I haven't heard from one person who heard them announce that the race was shortened until after it was started."

Race director Phil Sberna said it was announced over the public address system that the Team Challenge race was shortened before the race actually started, but he admitted that he did not realize the P.A. system was inaudible on pit lane, where most of the Team Challenge participants were at the time of the announcement.

"That was our mistake," said Sberna.

Elliott and Sberna held round-table meetings with disgruntled racers at the end of the day.

Unofficially, Celtic Racing's Des Conboy and Simon Turner took the overall and GTU class wins in the Team Challenge race on a Pirelli-shod Yamaha YZF-R6.

Conboy said his team did not hear the announcement that the race was shortened, but "we had it covered. We had a yellow (hard-compound Pirelli) on the rear, and I was riding conservative. I wanted to give Simon enough tire to finish. Barring any problem, we would've had it."

The Team Challenge race at Barber was further shortened by a red flag with less than 15 minutes remaining in the race.

Fortunately our out of pocket expenses were nominal compared with most teams which lessens our frustrations, but for the Tom Valleys who flew in riders and crew members and his costs associated with running 2 TC bikes only for a 45 minute "race". Those are the people/teams that suffered the most.

as for those racers which did not attend the riders meetings.. Fine them in the same manner that KE did at Roebling last month. Call out a few names from a enrty list, fine them $20.00 for not attending the racers meeting, then donate the cash to the Wegman Fund....now that was a class act by K.E that  got the racers attention.

QuoteWhat no Stumpy at Barber!    What the hell.   Stumpy where are you.  You missed a great time of racing.  Perfect racing conditions.......

Stumpy was racing in perfect conditions...at the Ore to Shore Mountain Bike epic!

Definitely not CCS...1,000 people started the 28 mile race he was in.  Stumpy started with about 600 in front of him and ended up 130 overall of 860 finishers and 8th in his age group.  The terrian is varied from old railroad grades to sandy hills to rutted trails. Not bad for his first year!

Here he goes through the aid station with about 5 miles left...

And after the race...

I think he's found another addiction!!!!!

Who hear actually thinks that something will not get ^%$^ ed up at a CCS event.   I EXPECT IT !

Just assume you will not get your money worth,  the races might not be run o most likely shortened,  The schedule is an assumption thats all, you'll get your race results in a few weeks/months when thier posted on the web.

That way your not disapointed with the weekend, and you can focus on having fun !!  After all this is a Club event,  which means its the last thing from being profesional as it can get !  No matter what CCS tells ya !

This is for fun and thats all!  IF its not then go somewhere else of do something else !

Oh, I caught Boopsie checking out Michelins for the mountain bike the other night.

If there's a Vortex sprocket to be found for the Trek, I'm sure he'll have it.   ;)

Yup, there were lots of $4,000+ bikes to be found there.

He did get lots of backin' it in experience--not to mention the endurance training.

In Marquette, mountain biking is huge.  Either you embrace it or you're blind!

Heed this warning: When he gets a carbon fibre frame with hydrolic disc brakes, there will be no turning back. :o ;) ;D
