If DAN has a problem with the thread, as the originator, HE can lock it or HE can delete it!  We don't need to do this for him do we?

It's not like there are so many other interesting issues at hand that we can't spare a little bandwidth for banter...

Or perhaps we could find a 10th topic to make sticky?

I have 10 PM's now where people have asked me that they don't want to be reading this crap.  Personally, I agree with them.  This BBS is for CCS racing - - NOT  - - let's see how many lies we can catch Dan in.  That is where the insurance thread was heading and therefore I locked it.

Sorry, unless I have the majority of people asking me to allow this, type of "banter" I'm going to continue nipping this stuff in the bud.  

In regards to the sticky's (since you made it clear you want and explaination):

Alexa asked if I could make her polls sticky's for 48 hours.  No big deal.

Jack's post about the calendar, sticky until the auction ends in three days.  The proceeds are going for a great cause.

CCS moving, important and will be left up for a week.

Barber FAQ's, is coming down today because most who are attending are already there.  Once again, it was a worthwhile subject to have there.

How about instead of "how many lies can we catch Dan in" that Dan does not lie in the first place.  

A bit ironic in the fact that it is not the original poster or his incessant BS post over and over that offends- but the resulting critique offered up by other "good-well-meaning" members, that result in a thread getting locked.    

All I am saying is maybe one should look at the said "postee".

What was wrong with the insurance quote?

Is the BBS getting too big to have such large compartments?

Certain questions that should be under wrenching or tips and tricks are under general.

Racing is racing, yeah, so how would one define that?

Additionally, as a point of personal censorship, can't someone just decide not to read someones posts?

I think it was John Stuard Mill that was one of the original advocates of free speech.  If I remember correctly, basically, he wanted it that way because eventually you'd recognize the stupid stuff and the stupid people.

I don't personally know Dan.  I don't really have too much to generalize on about him.

Wireless modem?  Don't know.  Doesn't sound like it's his company, so how can he say that it would necessarily happen?  But it is an offer of an opportunity.  I'm sure we've all been in situations where a "deal" goes south...marketing changes, someone else moves into the picture, etc.

Buying and selling.  Well, let the buyer beware.  I did hear first hand from someone that bought something from Dan cheap.  It was his, and he sold it.  Sounded like a neat thing and they got a good price.  

This BBS community is unofficial.  

I don't think there is a requirement to be fast, be a race license holder, or to even be a CCS racer or SRD member.

Sorry, like a leopard changing it's spots, Dan lying is part of his nature.  He can't stop and he enjoys everyone making a fuss over him.

After I told Dan he could not buy or sell anything on the BBS, he was quiet until the infamous "I miss Dan" thread.  Then....  the whole thing started over again.  Just like putting a quarter in the jute box.

So...  Logic tells me, if I nip these type of posts in the bud, I'm not added any fuel to the fire and perhaps Dan will go away.

BTW Garth, don't you have your own board to worry about?  Moderate your board your way, and I will do the best job I can here.

Dawn, you do a fine job.

There is no way to make everyone happy.  You do your best, and someone will still come in to pee on the parade.  There are the ones that recognize the difference.

Lies can be like the truth.  Depending upon your prespective, one might be the real answer.  What someone sees as a lie might actually be just a problem about perspective.

Regardless, if some of these things cause problems for some of the reading sensative, do like I do when I don't like a show...I usually change the channel, put in a movie, or shut off the TV.  The internet still works that way, right?

Dawn doesn't need to be the nanny here.  She's put down some rules that seem pretty decent.

First, Dawn doesn't have the ability to ban anyone.

And if he was, another one will just show up.  Or he could just change his name.

Yeah, I saw in another post that she can't ban him.  You can ban by an IP I thought (at least on other boards)  They banned him from WERA, and he doesn't seem to be back there.

I personally don't care if she bans him or not.  She seems to imply that she gets a lot of people emailing her about his posts.  That seems to be a lot of work for her.  So, my solution would be to eliminate the problem.

I agree with you 100% that you should not read the threads if you don't like them.
