What was ever set as the rule on if 4 cyl liter bikes were going to be allowed in F40.  I hope we don't see that anytime soon.  I think it's much more sporting to run 750cc and smaller.  With all of the experience most older riders bring winning races on a 600cc bike can be done.

Any other comments?

Yeah, when are they going to add up the age of the bike AND rider to get to 40, so I can run a '94 CBR900RR out there when they raise the displacement limit?  :P

Competing against 1000cc bikes?
Maybe then the 750 riders will know how us 600 guys feel ;D

Seriously, doesn't matter to me, I'll be bankrupt from racing long before I reach 40yrs of age :P

As the motorcycle technology get's better and better I belive it will have a bad effect on F40 to add up the age and bike.  What will end up happening soon enough is the 20 yr old riders will have bikes like 900RR and will take any championship possibillity away.  If you want to race against us ... just wait a few years.  Right now it would be funny because you would need to run a 1975 honda 750 with cable brakes.  ha ha

Actually, I'm only 1 year away from being able to run a '96 GSXR750 :D

It would be more appropriate to make the F40 class not just another HP shootout where the most $$ win.  I think there should be some restrictions or handicaps to make things more even...

OK, Ok, ok...  No liter bikes AND we add handicaps.  For instance, since we're talking about old guys, let's say that
1.  for every pound overweight, the older, rounder rider gets a 5 second per lap credit.
2.  for every year closer to dementia, the older more forgetful rider gets another 5 second per lap credit for having blown corners (forgot brake markers, ref points)
3.  A one time 5 second credit for slow reaction at the green flag.

Old, fat, slow rider on a mere MW size bike

I qualify for F40 and the whole thing seems stupid with age being the only criteria. What's the freakin'point,I went out with my light weight and there's 750's on the grid. The dumbess $35 I ever spent. It's either a practice race for the fast guys or an event for slower mw/hw.

How about just pulling the points from the gt classes.Use it as a sub-category.Every things the same and just throw in some wood at the end of the year for the 3 top F40,riders in each class.Part of the beauty of this is that the gt races require the most stamina(besides endurance),you know the age vs.stamina/conditioning/skill.

And then use the saved track time to may be lighten some of the other over crowded grids,or donate it to the corner workers.

Will race for food/chips/gas money......

I think the 30 or so riders that competed in this class would disagree. I've never had so much fun. Oh, I got beat every race by a guy on a 125. (I was riding a 600)

Super Dave

Formula 40 used to allow a 35 year old to ride a five year old bike.

Might be before your time...LOL!

As for Honda 750's...

Here's the one I rode at Daytona in March...

And I'm building a '74 Kawasaki Triple two stroke...Heh, heh!

I hope they go to 1000's,way more fun to ride and a lot less work,Im thinking there was a few 1000s out there  anyway[ex]except for Luke

Yep,  There were 1000cc bikes, but they are legal for HW Super Sport.  Gotta love that V-twin power.  The problem is that some folks want to race "liter 4 cyl bikes".  Most of us old foggys think it's more sporting to run a smaller bike and use our long learned skill.

Yep!  It's me...  I was chasing you the whole way.  I had it in my mind that I would draft you at the end... But that move you made passing the expert riders in the chicane was nice.  It caused me to get off the throttle and it put the gap between us.  Some of those expert guys were slow...  ;)

I hear a lot of racers are going to either call it quits or will be slowing the schedule next year.  I'm going to make the move to expert and see how I do there.  It was fun!

Im talking 1000 fours not v twins,as in gixxer 1000s in 750 frames and just plain gixxer 1000s.Most of the experts I spoke with would  welcome the bump to 1000s in the old farts class as would I

Eddie#200

I spoke to Bill F. when I was in daytona and he said HW Supersport not UL Supersport was legal.  If some of the guys want to cheat to win it shows they can't keep up with us better riders on smaller bikes and that is exactly my point.  I was able to get in front of younger riders on larger bikes when I raced my 600 in the heavyweight class.

A larger engine won't get you faster lap times.

What if they did a HW/MW split on a trial basis? No wood to begin with so they couldnt complain about extra cost. (for the big bikes) Try it for a couple races and see how the turn out is. If the big bikes have no advantage, then why not. (Road America will still be a problem.) Just a thought. Later, Kevin

Hey Eddie,  Congrats on your 2nd place at Daytona!!

Eddie#200

Too much work to keep track of all that... I'm lazy! ;)

Brett

I had a 1000 at Daytona in the F40 but I pulled in on the last lap. I just wanted to ride with all the guys I know. Went from last to 4th but I could have done it on my 750. The 1000 wasn't right yet and I was faster in March on my 750. I hope that's not the case next March.
